We are the Makers of Possible: Dallas Cowboys Fan Supports Distributor Relations at BD

On any given Sunday in the fall, you’d likely find Aaron Williams watching a Dallas Cowboys football game. That’s because this gridiron fanatic loves the competitive feeling that naturally comes from sports. Fast forward to Monday, and Aaron might be blocking and tackling in another kind of way as an Integrated Diagnostics Solutions (IDS) Channel Integration Manager supporting an important connection point with BD distributor partners.

“My job is to work with our distributors to help remove barriers, build closer relationships with our sales representatives, and ensure our products get to the healthcare professionals in the care settings where they are then used for patient care. There are a lot of other aspects to the role as well, including: working on supply chain, inventory management, sales promotions, and contracting,” Aaron said.

Taking control of his career path and growth

Aaron has been with BD for 21 years and began his career as a customer service representative. He moved to the contracting side of BD for nearly 15 years before taking a field role as an Account Executive. He then shifted to a Regional Channel Specialist role in early 2022. In the Spring of 2023, Aaron was promoted to his current position. One of the most important drivers of his internal mobility has been networking across the organization.

“I really believe that I’ve been able to move around BD because I took the time to network and get to know other associates, other leaders, and learn more about so many areas of our business, which has been great,” Aaron said. “The more people I connected with, the more it painted a vivid picture of what was possible at BD – what my possible could be. I also had a great opportunity to network within the industry at the most recent National Sales Network Conference, to help bring diverse sales talent into BD.” Aaron is also an active member of the African-Americans at BD (AABD) Associate Resource Group.

Listening and being solutions-oriented helps overcome issues

The spirit of collaboration and teamwork is the bond that unites every associate at BD and invites us to embrace new challenges, support each other and our business partners, and succeed together. But it’s not always easy. Aaron said some days, he faces challenges.

“I look to understand any barriers that get in the way from a distributor perspective and then help work through a resolution with them. I work hard to listen, understand, and ask a lot of questions so I can help,” Aaron said. “It’s not always easy, but we usually find the right solution.”

When asked what advice he would give someone considering joining BD for their next, best, or last career move, Aaron said: “The best part of BD is that BD genuinely cares about work-life balance and has put time and resources into that. BD really cares about its associates and their families and it’s also a place where you can have career growth and connect with others in a familial way so that you feel truly supported.”
