We are the engineers of possible: From Associate Professor to Software Quality Engineer

In the early part of July 2019, Sharanjit Kaur was working hard teaching subjects in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, India, as an Assistant Professor. Armed with a master’s degree in electronics and communication, she was enjoying her role but felt the pull to consider a new career choice – one steeped in technology.

BD = A solid career choice

“I joined BD more than three years ago as a trainee in software engineering doing testing in the TOSCA Automation Tool. It’s been such a great transition from teaching to software testing,” she said. “The people at BD are so supportive and my leaders continue to give me confidence, invest in me, and recognize the work that I do. I am lucky to have a supportive and motivating reporting manager, Mr. Rahul Gupta. He trusted in my ability to learn quickly, provided the opportunity to upskill, and has always appreciated my efforts.” Sharanjit works in the company’s Software Technology Solutions India (STSI).

BD is a values-driven organization that fosters a growth mindset and ‘help each other be great’ culture so it’s no surprise that Sharanjit feels like she is just hitting her stride at BD – but always looking to learn more and contribute more.

“I’m very dedicated to my work at BD. I love that I came from a non-traditional background and feel like I am thriving at BD. We have a very open-minded, accepting, and collaborative culture, which I value a lot” Sharanjit noted. “When I am testing various products to ensure the software quality is intact, I know exactly how that product is going to benefit the patient -- working on such a noble cause really energizes and inspires me even more!”

Describe BD in a Word

When asked how she would describe BD, Sharanjit called out quickly that two words come to mind: “Rewarding and satisfied. I feel so honored to be able to work for a company with such a strong Purpose. BD is the place to work if you are passionate about creating a positive impact on those patients who use our products.”

Outside of work she likes to listen to calming music, read books, and spend time with her husband, who is also a software engineer with BD.
