POSITION SCOPE

The Associate Director of Global Supply Planning for the Platform AAD (Advanced Access Devices) is a key leadership role in the ISC (Integrated Supply Chain), reporting to the Sr. Director of Global Supply Chain-MDS. The role has a dotted line to the VP of the AAD Platform. This role is an in-office role and must be located in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.Candidates must be local to Salt Lake City, Utah or be willing to relocate there once awarded the position.

This position has responsibility for working with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the right Supply Chain Strategies and Processes are in place to support global and regional business and customer needs. 

The role directly supports the AAD Global Platform VP and the Regional Business Leaders, Manufacturing Operations Leaders, Finance Leaders, Marketing & Sales Leaders, R&D Leaders, the BDX Corporate Supply Chain Leaders and Regional Supply Chain Leaders to drive overall business performance. This includes delivering & improving overall service levels, inventory health levels, and cost saving objectives. It requires the ability to balance and stretch the often conflicting needs of cash inventory investments, efficient manufacturing, financial results, and customer service levels.

She/he is accountable for the end-to-end supply planning excellence, acts as a change agent and drives the GSC planning strategy into the Platform. He/she provides strategic SC planning leadership, supports Sr. Director Global Supply Chain in setting prioritization & direction for Global & Regional Supply Chain Associates.

She/he may directly involve in line responsibility, core business processes, or lead major (MDS) Supply Chain programs. He/She will be a key member of MDS Supply Chain Planning LT as well as the AAD Platform LT. The role is also one of the key process leaders in some of the multiple steps of the monthly Global SIOP/IBP process for the Platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Devise and coordinate Supply Chain (SC) strategies on region/global supply chain planning, and systems.

  • Harmonizes processes and the organization of the teams within the Platform, in alignment with the Global SC BDx & MDS strategies on end-to-end process excellence

  • Drives success by leading the monthly Global SIOP/IBP process-components related to the role; this specifically includes the “Supply Review” which drives insights on capacity vs demand, supply gaps, inventory (health) review, New Product Introductions & portfolio simplification; both on planner level as well as on different Executive levels.
    The role personally ensures connection & alignment between the Platform process components, the Regional Demand process components and the MDS components of the IBP process

  • Ensure the supply chain networkoperates to meet the needs for assigned BD market customers on a consistent basis.  Key performance measures of this include On Time & In Full, Backorder $, Inventory $-DIO, Inventory Health and Write-Offs (E&O).

  • Develops and executes a Global Inventory Strategy Process supported by the MEIO approach (Multi Echelon Inventory Optimization). Ensures the establishment of target inventory levels and mix to achieve management objectives for service levels, backorder incidence/duration and inventory- DIO goals.

  • Together with the Manufacturing Operations Leaders develop and update Operations strategies that are aligned to the business strategies of the Platform.

  • Deploy the Long-term planning Strategy for the Platform together with the Region/Global Platforms and Operational Leaders to ensure the right Capital investments is done on time to meet business needs.

  • Drives Overall Operations/Supply Chain process optimization by identifying and implementing best practices to improve both internal and external Supply Chain service and efficiency metrics.

  • Support & lead the deployment/utilization within the Platform of the latest solutions (i.e. Kinaxis, BD Control Tower, etc.) to maintain the highest service to Customers, with a Zero BO mind set Goal.

  • Ensures robust measurable short- and long-term global processes are utilized driving consensus amongst Regions, Sales/marketing, Platform, Finance and Operations which is utilized to project and monitor business financial performance and operating plans. This includes budgeting, financial forecasting, inventory management, capacity planning and sourcing. 

  • Strong process improvement across IBP and Demand/Supply Mgmt. with specific improvement focused on New Product introductions, zero BO mindset and Customer centricity.

  • Aware of future SC trends & adopt best SC practices; Support & Ensure best SC practice sharing mechanisms are in place across the Platform.

  • Drive prompt resolution Supply watchouts by working closely with Manufacturing Integrators, BOC, and Global supply network planners.

  • Sponsor Supply Chain Process Improvement Continuous improvement (CI) programs, including SAP & APS Supply Chain Management (SCM) system utilization and new functionality roll-out across SCM and business intelligence (BI) space (eg Power BI)

  • Support global system roll-out milestones, including supply chain project planning, master data accuracy, data validation strategies and integrated testing plans.

Deliver Strategic Initiatives

1. Deliver strategy to achieve working capital, cost, and service goals. The candidate will take a pivotal role in the creation and execution of the Demand-Driven Value Chain strategy and vision.

2. Implement the Global Supply Planning Strategy (SC Transformation Program adoption)

  • Assure full utilization of Kinaxis as common planning platform to orchestrate the flow and staging of inventory throughout its global supply network.

  • Planner Standardization and Productivity

  • Increase systems utilization and best fit use models.

  • Support/Sponsor continuous improvement to Kinaxis solution

  • Standardize planner calendar work

  • Training and qualification program for supply planners

  • Consolidate and request System Enhancement

  • Leads change related to key strategic initiatives that impact Supply Planning with strong connection to Platforms and commercial operations.  Ensures the right stakeholders are engaged up front and throughout the change process.

  • Create Human Resource Planning (HRP) roadmaps and career blueprints for global supply chain associates

  • Drive associate engagement through Supply Chain rewards and recognition program

  • The role is responsible for leading a large team of associates which includes setting team vision, engaging and aligning the team around company and function goals. Also driving performance management and making sure goals are achieved on time and in full.

    • Improve FG inventories USD($) including obsolescence reduction (Slow & Non Movers)

    • Improve customer Service. Deliver targeted levels of service to end customers in markets.

    • Transportation and Warehouse cost savings

    • Improve flexibility: Cycle time, Lead time etc.

    • Employee engagement and talent management targets

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:

  • Ideal Candidate will have at least 10 years progressive management experience in Supply Chain/ Operations 

  • Comprehensive understanding of Supply Chain Planning.

  • Will have demonstrated ability to develop and successfully execute strategy.

  • Breadth of background across numerous roles / functions within an Integrated Global E2E Supply Chain organization would be preferred.

  • Experience leading cross functional teams and driving consensus in decision making

  • Demonstrated financial management, organizational, planning, and implementation skills.

  • International Experience

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and rapid decision-making capabilities.

  • Solid and broad supply chain functional expertise, with a clear understanding of the linkages from demand planning through production and distribution

  • In depth knowledge of business process, with a focus on Customer Facing & Integrated Supply Chain processes

  • Advanced knowledge of MRP/ERP and Advance Planning tools

  • Extensive experience with resource planning systems and software such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, i2.

  • Knowledge and implementation experience in Supply Network Planning heuristics optimization methodologies and software (e.g. Kinaxis)

EDUCATION:

  • BS Supply Chain, Business Management, Finance, Engineering. MBA and / or advanced degree preferred.

  • Occasional Travel internationally.

SUPERVISION

Direct reports: Team of supply planners and supply planning leaders for the designated Platforms.
