The successful candidate will be part of a cross functional team tasked with development and validation of diagnostic medical microbiology and molecular instrumentation. Under the direction of a senior level engineer the candidate will be responsible for the creation and execution of manual test cases. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with Systems, Software and Product Security associates as a member of a project team.

Evaluates and applies engineering principles to fulfill project objectives. Collects, records data and presents results to others either verbally or in writing. Works as a member of a project team to design, develop, and execute system and software test procedures. Captures detailed system and software specifications under the direction of a requirements lead. Readily applies engineering principles to the solution of complex technical problems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Able to generate test cases using approved specifications
  • Generate and execute test plans and procedures
  • Generate and execute verification and validation protocols
  • Work with the interdisciplinary team to document product requirements and detailed specifications
  • Identify and enter problems discovered into the error tracking system, verify problems are resolved, update problem status and close the related issue.
  • Perform work consistent with departmental SOPs

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience must include the development and execution of written hardware and software test procedures and documentation of the results
  • Ability to understand the technical design of the system and evaluate specifications as needed
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and provide data to the design team
  • Familiarity with Cognition Cockpit, Visio, TFS/VSTS
  • Ability to execute tasks from a project plan

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in an engineering or science major
  • 2+ years experience of system and or software level testing
