Job Description SummaryManages some or all of the production functions in the manufacturing operation. Responsible for the production of product, while meeting Plant Safety, Quality, Schedule per goals and financials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Oversees the management of the production segment of the operation in the manufacturing Plant.
Coordinates and develops short and long term recommendations for additional investments in the manufacturing operation which are designed to improve customer service, improve capacities, improve quality and reduce operating costs.
Prepares related statistical reports on manufacturing efficiencies, waste costs, and quality attributes. Reports results to top management and recommends methods and procedures to improve performance.
Monitors the skills of the hourly personnel within the manufacturing operation to identify deficiencies and formulates recommendations for improvements.
Directs and coordinates the production of product to meet master schedules and planned delivery dates.
Prepares and monitors manufacturing budget.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates staff.
Supervises the manufacturing operation to assure proactive measures are employed to provide a safe working environment and that safety is promoted and emphasized to all personnel within manufacturing.
Provides assistance to Division personnel in the development of new products and processes.
Ensures that the wage and salary administration practices for the manufacturing operation are within the Division policy guidelines.
Provides advice and counsel to management regarding the organization’s objectives and management policies.
SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDSStaff Managers
Ensure safety and environmental tours of area are conducted.
Establish and report on annual safety and environmental goals as set out in Individual Impact Goals. Goals to be specific, measurable, trackable, and include as many parameters as possible. Discuss and document pertinent safety and environmental management topics at staff meetings. Ensure that management review meetings of lost time injuries, significant damage, and high-potential incidents are held no later than the next working day.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIESOther responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Complies with, and responsible for enforcing, all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles. Ensures compliance through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound Quality Assurance principles. Responsible for the activities and programs as defined for this position in the Quality Systems Manual - BD Broken Bow.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.
