National Account Manager - Chicago, IL

This role is within BD Medical Diabetes Care; which is a business unit has a long history within BD and is unique in that it focuses on one important disease state, which is a threat to world health.  BD Diabetes Care is comprised of approximately 2,300 associates globally.  The growth strategy includes strengthening our core diabetes drug delivery devices as well as enabling expansion of our diabetes care portfolio. 

The Diabetes Care business has an exciting opportunity for a National Account Manager within our Diabetes Care US Region business.  The National Account Manager is responsible for managing national accounts within the Diabetes Care business unit.  The primary accounts are retail pharmacy accounts. This position will be responsible for setting developing and executing account strategies aimed driving profitability, growth, and creating value programs between BD and our customers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Identify areas to create value for our customers and lead the organizations' support efforts.
  •  Analysis of account specific POS data and identification of resulting opportunities.
  •  Overseeing and negotiating all contracts related to accounts.
  •  Working cross-functionally to ensure agreement on financial requirements, reimbursement  expectations, marketing strategies, and managed care requirements within each account.
  •  Developing overall multi-year national accounts strategy and implementation.
  •  Managing relationships with key internal stakeholders such as analytics, contracts, pricing, reimbursement, marketing, training, and field sales.

REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION:

BS / BA required; BS degree in a health- or business-related field strongly preferred.

Advanced degree, particularly MBA, MPH, or RPharm preferred. 

10 years’ work experience in healthcare, medical devices.

At least 5 years’ experience in OTC/CPG preferred.

At least 5 years’ experience leading contract negotiations with large accounts, preferably large retailers.

Demonstrated ability to work alongside sales and marketing resources as well as finance and legal personnel to ensure execution of strategic commercial initiatives.

Must be willing to travel at least 30% of the time. 

Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards.
