Job Description Summary

Knowledgeable and can perform the related procedures, specifications, work methods, and records, concerning the Microbiology Lab. Ensure compliance of regulatory and company standards for the Microbiology Lab. Lead and support cross-functional teams to complete all desired projects within their respective timeline. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide routine guidance to Microbiology Lab Technicians, review and approve tests and paperwork, provide training on new test methods, procedures, etc. Perform routine Microbiology testing and fill in for Microbiology Technicians as needed (environmental, water and product testing, incoming tests on products/media, identification of microorganisms, creation of process challenge devices for sterilization). Write and perform validations of laboratory equipment and microbiology methods. Lead method validation transfers from other BD sites or contractors. Create and revise procedures and other laboratory documentation. Operate and troubleshoot all laboratory equipment. Write and perform investigations for laboratory out of specifications (OOS) and other deviations. Assist with internal and customer audits. Perform CAPA investigations. Trend and analyze laboratory data. Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS Degree - Microbiology, Biology or other scientific field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience within a pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing facility, having performed microbiological tasks associated with pharmaceutical or medical device products and processes required.
