Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Manager or Associate Manager, Quality Supervisors provide direct management of technical staff. The Quality Supervisor contributes to the execution of the tactics required to achieve departmental objectives. The Quality Supervisor is key in assisting the Quality Manager in ensuring product safety, quality and compliance with all relevant global regulations and customer expectations. They will also assist in monitoring frequency and scale of quality and organizational issues and in offering resolutions to these issues. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise quality activities and compliance programs. Implement local business organizational goals, specifically around quality.

  • Proactively identify and work through obstacles that may hinder associates from focusing on and delivering their individual impact goals.

  • Ensure her/his organization is staffed, organized and resourced to fulfill its obligations and to comply with applicable regulations and procedures.

  • Train / mentor Quality personnel.

  • Assist Quality Manager to support external/internal audits. (FDA, ISO, Segment Audits, Customer Audits, etc.)

  • Participate as team members on blitzes, six sigma projects, etc.

  • Implement best quality practices.

  • Prioritize quality and compliance minded solutions for her/his area of responsibility.

  • Contributes to the attainment of budget goals by managing department spends.

  • Promptly address any safety issues or incidents.

  • Spend a minimum of 50% of time in the areas of responsibility working with associates.

  • Responsible for staffing and training plans within the department.

  • Provide regular, timely and specific feedback to associates.

  • Provide a learning environment and challenge associates to meet higher expectations.

  • Ensure an open flow of communication exists between associates and management. 

  • Represent concerns of associates to management, as well as management concerns to associates.

  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company and departmental policies and practices.

  • Works with associates to resolve employee relations issues and concerns; involves HR when needed.

  • Actively participate and support continuous improvement activities.

  • Collaborate with multiple departments (Production, Quality, Logistics, Finance, Engineering) ensuring performances are meeting the business objectives.

  • Supervise daily operations.

May include EDHR project rollout work:

  • Shaping the new batch record templates including modification to existing Work Instructions / Procedures to efficiently integrate the system.

  • Defining the EDHR digital road map strategy based on functionalities available for each iterations.

  • Communicating to relevant plant Teams any EDHR Quality decisions and changes which could impact their processes.

  • Setting up the EDHR forms and control plans (plant SME for EDHR, modelling the plant processes in MES).

  • Partnering with the Plant EDHR Digitalization Lead to deliver an efficient EDHR setup, easy to maintain & sustain.

  • Writing and executing the PQ1 test scripts for forms and control plans validation.

  • Training the EDHR end users.

  • Defining the potential enhancements of the EDHR software.

  • Being the Digital Ambassador: demystify digital to Quality Team and promote how digital solutions can support the future in terms of Quality System Management, QC Operations (e.g. Data integrity), Quality assurance and ways of working.

  • Achieving quality functions satisfaction through successful delivery of EDHR program and successful realization of key business objectives and metrics.

  • Providing direct support to Plant quality functions to ease the transition to EDHR process including creation of Procedures and Work Instructions as needed for users to be trained and to navigate the system.

  • Developing on-going plans for EDHR process improvement activities in conjunction with the Plant continuous improvement team.

  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor required in Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 3 years relevant technical experience including project leadership or a combination of equivalent education and experience
