Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Manager EDI Operations, the Analyst is responsible for automating business transactions with internal/external trading partners. The main focus of this role is to work with key accounts, key project initiatives, and internal customers to increase EDI utilization. Must have superior organizational and multi-tasking skills and a broad knowledge of business processes. Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with both internal and external technical and non-technical groups and have demonstrated presentation and documentation skills. Candidate should be self-motivating and able to work independently while sharing knowledge and mentoring other team members.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

The EDI Operations team is responsible for driving automation through the implementation of EDI transactions and interacting with technical and business process areas to ensure EDI needs are met.  The EDI Operations team supports BD North American Business Units including Franklin Lakes, Baltimore, Canada, San Jose, Mexico and San Antonio, as well as External Trading Partners. External Trading Partners include Distributors, Direct Accounts, IDN’s, Financial Institutions, Freight Forwarders, Carriers, and Suppliers. Implementation activities include: account qualification, specification and map analysis, SAP test EDI setups, end-to-end testing, results validation, promotion tasks as well as monitoring and maintenance of the EDI account base.

Provide EDI Production Support by researching and resolving questions, failures and issues - 50%

Build business cases, design and execute test scenarios, stage and process data and coordinate the promotion to SAP production systems - 25%

Identify and implement solutions to increase EDI utilization - 25%

Scope of Responsibility

  • Working with internal and external customers to increase EDI Utilization
  • Implementing the following  EDI Transactions: 850, 855, 856, 810, 832, 845, 867, 820 and others as identified by business needs.

Sphere of Influence

  • This position is responsible for the most complex and business critical issues and projects which are generally associated with our key accounts and key operational goals.
  • This position supports all Business Units within North America.

Impact on Business Results

  • Ensure EDI documents are built and executed to spec as provided by the customer and in compliance with BD’s EDI strategy

Responsible for addressing under-performing EDI utilization customers to drive customer behavior to 100%.

Knowledge

  • End to End supply chain knowledge, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Skills

  • Applicants should be proficient in the ANSI X.12 and XML formats and have working knowledge of SAP IDOC structures, processing and EDI set-ups.  Basic knowledge of BW Queries, EDISIM, and Editor tools desired. EDI system and business integration expertise, must have strong time management and multi-tasking capabilities as well as excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Education

  • BS Degree

Experience

  • The qualified candidate should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 2+ years of EDI implementation experience. 

Other

  • Green Belt certification is preferred
  • Project Management certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI preferred
  • 10% Travel
