Associate Director, Business Intelligence Principal Architect Lead (Remote)

Job Description Summary

The Sr SAP BW4HANA Architect is responsible for the end-end BI and data analytics platforms. This person will own and manage the data ingestion methods, transport protocols, work with cloud infrastructure team and own architecture decisions and future architecture road-mapping. The Architect manages the entire lifecycle of an SAP BW4HANA and ecosystems with big picture ownership of generational technologies comprising the SAP investment. Excellent large-scale project management experience.
Partners with and provides architectural leadership to Solution delivery team, Business Partners and technical team to deliver thoughtful IT solutions to the business. Works collaboratively with SAP Solution architect, Non-SAP Solution, SAP functional experts, application owners, information security, Basis Technical architect & infrastructure teams to produce an optimal, high level, conceptual, and cost-effective designs.
Sets and influences data analytics architecture decisions and provides strategic direction. Demonstrates the ability to translate business needs into BI solution architecture requirements and understands the long-term and short-term perspectives of an IT investment situation. Works closely with stakeholders from various lines of business to develop architecture blueprints and realistic roadmaps.
Analyzes the current SAP BW4HANA,azure Data Lake and architecture to identify and develop opportunities for improvement such as enhancing business processes, expanding capacity, reducing time & cost, and increasing overall effectiveness. Acts as an arbitrator, as needed, to bring the appropriate parties together to drive discussions to decisions in a timely manner.
Documents the SAP BW4HANA architecture design and analysis work. Owns and documents the overall SAP BW4HANA Solution architecture based on industry standard architectural frameworks. Develops a capability road map of the enterprise portfolio from current to future state. Responsible for managing internal and external audit and compliance needs. Manages architect members responsible for BI platforms.
Analyzes technology industry, market trends and impact of Cloud Solutions and determines the potential impact on the enterprise. Maintains relationship with SAP HANA/ecosystem vendors, AMO Support groups and maintains technology roadmaps. Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards.
Directs the governance activities associated with ensuring BI Solution compliance, particularly as relating to the SAP and Ecosystems.
Reports to the BI Senior Director.

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related study, is required. MBA or MS in a relevant computing field is preferred.
15 – 20 years of Technical/Functional Skills SAP HANA data Modeling, SAP BW, SAP DI, PowerBI.
Must have managed a team of at least 5 employees. Contract team management experience is a plus.
Must have implemented 5 to 6 BW4HANA/Native HANA Implementation projects using real time replication of SAP SLT and extraction of data with SAP ECC and Non-SAP data sources.
Experience in supporting SAP BW4HANA specific modeling like using LSA++, Composite Providers and exposing BW objects in HANA Views, Advanced DSO etc.
Has been in an architecture leadership role in 2+ full lifecycle SAP implementations at Fortune 500 companies, including post implementation experience.
Strong experience in architecting SAP solutions: SAP BO/BW, SAP HANA, SAP DI, SAP SLT/SDI with specific emphasis on database management, SAP GRC with AD and Data visualization.
Strong reporting knowledge using Analytical tools like SAC, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik BOBJ etc.
Experience in an architecture leadership role in 2+ full lifecycle SAP implementations at Fortune 500 companies, including post implementation experience.
Experience in working on SAP Data intelligence, ML Data engineering and building scalable ML and data engineering pipelines.
Strong experience on Creating SQL, Stored Procedures with SQL Script and also with Calculation Engine (CE) Functions, Debugging SQL Script using various techniques like Tracing, Using the SQL Script Debugger.
Self-starter who thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced business environment.
Excellent project management, organizational and planning skills.
Experienced in worked with a Program Management Office (PMO)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Enhance decision making: Use tools such as business information models to provide the organization with a future-state view of the information landscape that is unencumbered by the specific data implementation details imposed by proprietary solutions or technologies. Assist decision design.

  • Enable effective data and analytics governance: Suggest who can take what actions with what information, and under what circumstances. Assist data and analytics leaders, and business and IT leadership in developing information governance processes and structures.

  • Conduct business information modeling: Create and manage business information models in all their forms, including conceptual models, relational database designs, message models and others.

  • Manage risk: Aid the definition of data classifications and data zoning to allow information assets to be immediately identified and proactively managed as more information becomes federated in a digital economy.

  • Enable enterprise information management: Ensure that the architecture is used as a lens and a filter to identify, prioritize and execute the data and analytic initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes.

  • Secure data and analytic assets: Aid in the analysis of data and analytics security requirements and solutions, and work with the chief information security officer (CISO) [and CDO] to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as protected assets.

  • Improve EIM performance: Aid efforts to improve business performance through enterprise information solutions and capabilities, such as master data management (MDM), metadata management, analytics, content management, data integration, and related information management or information infrastructure components.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

A successful candidate is expected to have an expert understanding of business intelligence and data analytics platforms, tools, technologies, methods and techniques. This includes, but is not limited to, technology platforms such as: Azure cloud environments, SAP HANA.

Familiarity with current landscape is a plus: Hadoop, HIVE, SPARK, DataBricks, data virtualization solutions, Power BI, networking, storage area networks, security operations, Widows/Linux/UNIX servers, load balancers, firewalls and virtual machine technologies,

  • Strong Analytics/Data warehouse experience in complex environments building end to end Analytics solution using SAP HANA modelling where consuming data from extraction using BODS/SLT from both SAP and Non-SAP sources

  • Experience in supporting SAP BW on HANA specific modeling like using LSA++, Composite Providers and exposing BW objects in HANA Views, Advanced DSO etc.

  • Must have implemented 2 to 3 Native HANA Implementation projects using real time replication of SAP SLT with SAP ECC and Non-SAP data sources.

  • Native HANA MODELLING - Designing Views (Attribute View, Analytic View, and Calculation View), Stacked Calculation Views (Graphical and Script), stored Procedures and Functions required., Views that needs multiple table functions, counters, Restricted and Calculated measures, input parameters, filters, transparent filters. Debugging Views. HANA Modeling using SQL Script and CESQL scripting. Also trained on XSJS, OData, web services, SDI/SDA .

  • HANA SQL SCRIPTS & CDS [CORE DATA SERVICES] - Strong experience on Creating SQL, Stored Procedures with SQL Script and also with Calculation Engine (CE) Functions, Debugging SQL Script using various techniques like Tracing, Using the SQL Script Debugger.

  • Expertise in HANA view optimization and performance techniques with Good understanding of overall HANA Architecture.

  • HANA SECURITY & TRANSPORT- Creating Analytic Privileges, Setup data level authorization and privileges at SAP HANA Database, Creating User, Roles & assigning the respective Privileges. Hands-on experience on all three modes of transport Delivery Unit mode, Development mode, as well as on the SAP support mode, Apt in Direct metadata import mass import of metadata, selective import of metadata.

  • Strong reporting knowledge using Analytical tools like SAC, Power BI, Tableau, BOBJ etc.

  • Strong Working Experience of SAP BW on HANA, Native HANA, SAP ECC Functional (FI, OTC, WHM etc) is a must.

  • Working knowledge of S/4HANA or BW/4HANA is preferably

  • Defining systems strategy, developing systems requirements, designing and prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures, and implementation.

  • Experienced in using Performance Tuning techniques, system optimization, and business process improvement in SAP HANA

Roles & Responsibilities Generic Managerial Skills:

  • At least 15 years of experience in Analysis, Design and Development of various Data Warehousing projects

  • Strong experience in documenting business requirements, functional, technical specifications, and test cases.

  • Capable of Leading a team of 5-8 developers as well as working as a Team Member with minimum supervision.

  • Flexible to adapt to any new environment with a strong desire to keep pace with latest technologies.

Education and Skills:

  • Masters/BS in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent work experience. Advance degree preferred
