Job Description Summary

The Inventory Optimization Manager is a key role in the Supply Chain organization, accountable for the Process Development, Integration, and Governance of Execution for Inventory Management & Optimization Strategies which enhance BD’s customer experience while improving working capital and reducing waste.

The Inventory Optimization Manager will lead and influence highly-matrixed teams in being accountable for assuring the overall supply chain management processes and inventory optimization of the BDX portfolio. This includes responsibility for driving collaborative efforts and standards across supply chain functions (Business Unit Leaders, Marketing, Sales and Operations) and participation in Business Unit (BU) SIOP to Reduce Inventory and Improve Cash Flow, including but not limited to the reduction of under-performing SKUs.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management: Process development, integration, and governance of execution of all business processes that enhance customer experience while improving working capital.  Build and operate a global management and reporting program that standardizes and regulates all projects, initiatives, forecasts and progress for all BU’s and Regions.  Contribute to Executive Communications on attainment to DIOH goals and budgets
  • Inventory Optimization: Maintain a three-year inventory optimization strategy for all Business units, with monthly/quarterly metrics and actions. Leverage standard techniques and technologies to set/reset inventory targets for finished goods products amongst 50-70 distribution centers worldwide.  Communicate inventory position, budget, and financial re-forecast to senior management via Dashboards. Formulate and recommend policies, procedures, and processes that guide the organization in improving its cash flow and profitability, while still driving topline growth.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 5+ years of experience in a variety of business, functions, leadership, and people development roles. (influence without authority roles)
  • 4 year degree in related field of study (SCM, mathematics, logistics, engineering, etc)
  • High ability to work independently and remove barriers for projects and associates
  • Demonstrated success in motivating associates and driving positive change
  • Demonstrated success leading process development and integrations is required.
  • Demonstrated experience driving culture change to sustain improvements is required.  
  • The incumbent must have prior project management and demonstrate strong leadership skills. 
  • The incumbent interacts with senior level leader of the Corporation and therefore must be able to effectively communicate, influence and manage change to be successful.
  • A bias for action

Technical Area of Expertise – Must have strong Supply Chain and Continuous Improvement program & project management experience and be customer oriented.  Knowing in techniques and tools for inventory optimization a requirement.

Additional and Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Master of Science and/or MBA is preferred. 
  • Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Certification Preferred. 
  • Previous experience medical device or regulated industry strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional strengths in emotional intelligence, communication, leadership, collaboration, partnering, global thinking, strategic, project management and matrix management are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional teams with deep trust that can achieve in the face of challenges and constraints is essential to success is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with high business insight and discernment, form strategic plans and influence executive management cross-functionally is required.
  • Strong organizational skills, Superior data analysis and statistical skills are required
