Job Description

Program Overview

We are committed to hiring talent who believe in our core values and who will be strong performers upon graduation from undergraduate programs. As an Intern, you will have the chance to make an impact through the teams you join, the projects you work on, and the leaders with whom you interact. BD provides Interns with meaningful work experiences, mentoring, an in-depth orientation, networking activities and exposure to the many benefits of working at BD.

The Intern will have the opportunity to enhance their proficiency in procurement processes and gain exposure to the specific challenges of working in a medical device manufacturing company. They will report to and work directly with the procurement managers and / or process associates responsible for the Intern’s assignments on a one-to-one basis or as a member of a cross functional team.

The assignments will vary depending upon business needs, but will generally include discrete projects in the areas of:

  • Spend analysis
  • Project management
  • Corporate and category support
  • RFI activities
  • Supplier management activities
  • Risk Mitigation

If there is mutual interest, the Intern will be considered for BD’s Procurement Development Program, a three-year rotational program designed to provide an entry-level associate with the opportunity to further develop a solid portfolio of strategic sourcing skills and a foundation for a successful career in procurement.

The Intern will have the opportunity to attend relevant training and meetings within the department that may occur during the Intern, and will present their overall accomplishments to the Global Purchasing Leadership Team at the end of their Internship.
