Job Description

Overview:

The Sr. Marketing Manager alongside with the WW Director Safety and Syringe will be responsible for the conventional syringe, accessories, and safety business which represents about $330MM globally. The products are distributed in retail, tender, and institutional channels. The candidate will be involved all aspects of product and brand management such as leading the development and execution of product marketing plans to produce maximum sales, growth and profitability; establishing and maintaining a strong competitive position through strategic and tactical identification of marketing opportunities; and developing marketing promotional and communication programs.  

The role is accountable for marketing work-stream deliverables supporting line extensions and other assigned product development projects; it provides ongoing support of the Global Product Development Process (GPDS) by active engagement in peer reviews of marketing deliverables.    

The Sr. Marketing Manager routinely interfaces with cross functional team resources including:  Global and Regional marketing associates, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Medical Affairs, R&D, HEOR, and Market Access.   The Sr. Marketing Manager is expected to provide mentoring and coaching to less senior marketing associates; assume a training leadership role in establishing general product management fundamentals and establishing, implementing and maintaining "best practices" in product and market management.

The successful candidate will need to work in a fast-paced environment with very little supervision.  Resourcefulness and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities are keys.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for working with regional marketing counterparts to develop and execute regional strategies to ensure achievement of financial/ budget expectations
  • Manages all aspects of product marketing plans to ensure the achievement of financial/budget expectations and product line strategies
  • Execute product line pricing strategy
  • Accountable for demand management by developing recommendations on product sales forecasts and production inventory issues
  • Meets all marketing work-stream deliverables as required in BD Global Product Development Process

Required knowledge and experience   

  • Substantial applied product and market management experience in multiple disciplines, such as brand management and/ or product development.
  • Experience in identifying market opportunities, market segmentation, competitive analysis, pricing strategy, market development and go to market models and strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, advisory boards, and potential or existing business partners
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities. Ability to routinely work on multiple tasks with multiple people while effectively prioritizing.

Job Specific Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a life science or technical discipline is preferred
  • MBA in marketing is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years experience. Institutional experience preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of life sciences or medical technology industry experience preferred
  • 10-20% Travel
