Job Description Summary

The R&D staff systems lead test engineer is a technical leadership position leading system testing activities to develop and commercialize complex instrumentation in the medication safety space. The individual would have responsibility for working cross-functionally to understand end-user needs and requirements and mapping them to system test strategies and protocols in addition to diagnosis of complex issues.
The responsibilities can include but are not limited to: leading to system test design, prioritization and execution for critical features and functions as part of Agile scrum teams and documenting the test results to inform the development team of opportunities for improvements. The individual would have responsibility for working closely with other team members to understand the clinical use cases, usability and system requirements; provide contribution and expertise in planning, developing, executing and maintaining test cases and test automation tools and relevant infrastructure support and services.

The testing performed in this role will help ensure that our products meet our customer’s expectations and regulatory requirements. The R&D staff systems lead test engineer will oversee and participate in the development, execution, and maintenance of test plans and automation test scripts. Knowledge of disciplined design and development processes, regulatory, quality requirements and design controls, such as 21 CFR 820.30 is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar

  • A minimum of 4 years of post-educational professional experience in testing of Medical Device

  • Proficient in reading and understanding requirements, intended uses, test cases, test protocols

  • Hands on experience in Planning, developing, executing, and maintaining test protocol and test cases

  • Hands on experience defining test methodologies and strategies for software applications

  • Experience working with teams to understand system requirements and thoroughly validating the developed solutions against the requirements

  • Experience working with cross functional teams to meet the testing milestones and deliver high quality solutions on time

  • Experience working with and leading test readiness reviews and formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports in a regulated environment

  • Ability to generate and capture testing documentation.

  • Experience documenting clear and concise bug reports and steps to reproduce defects

  • Experience Implementing QA activities to meet system performance and requirements

  • Experience developing reusable functions to handle common functionality in test cases

  • Experience and/or knowledge of wide range of testing methodologies

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar

  • 5+ years of post-educational professional experience in testing of Medical Device

  • Previous Experience developing testing strategies focused towards automation from scratch

  • Working knowledge of regulatory standards applicable to design of medical devices, including FDA QSR, ISO 13845, ISO 14971, IEC 62304 and IEC 60601 and collateral standards

  • Post-educational experience in Medical Device design and development

  • Self-directed with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and trends

  • Ability to work independently after appropriate direction
