HR Business Partner - ONSITE, Glens Falls, NY

Job Description Summary

The HR Partner provides operational HR support to assigned leaders and participates in cross functional projects within the plant. The role focuses on a balanced mix of day-to-day workforce management, as well as change management, employee engagement, talent management, recruitment/selection and organization design/effectiveness activities.

The HR Partner has solid knowledge of HR process, can effectively partner with the business, acts independently and is responsible for end-to-end support of the assigned client group. The incumbent acts as an advisor to the business/functional leader and drives the talent agenda and execution of business initiatives by building capability in the team. The role leverages HR CoEs, the Associate Service Center and Access HR to deliver HR tools, processes, and relevant data/metrics for the plant.

Essential / Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the HR Leader to execute and support all annual HR processes, including Talent and Succession Planning, Performance Management and Development & Compensation.

  • Translates strategic priorities into innovative HR actions and solutions that advance the attraction, motivation, development, and retention of diverse, hardworking associates. 

  • Identify and resolve gaps in talent attraction and management, including recruitment, assessment, and development to cultivate a positive culture built upon our BD Way values

  • Utilizes and partners with our AccessHR team to guide leaders to escalate issues of performance and behavior where required.

  • Provides responsive service to all levels of employees and cross functional teams when responding to daily requests about HR including but not limited to:  Workday inquires and approvals, onboarding, offboarding, job descriptions, policies, BD’s job structure, compensation, internal employee movement, training & development inquires, and concerns that get escalated to the onsite HR team. 

  • Consults with managers on all pay-related decisions including new hire offer, merit increases, market pricing data, bonus recommendations, career-related and other such adjustments.

  • Accountable for reporting HR metrics to support overall delivery of Key Driver Goals, HR programs and initiatives.  Report progress, trends, and resulting actions related to hiring, retention, turnover, engagement, inclusion & diversity.  

  • Proactively participate and lead local communication/engagement plans aimed at optimizing employee engagement (e.g., Voice of Associate Survey) and creating a positive and inclusive work environment.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in Business Administration, HR Management or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of direct HR experience in a generalist or HR role that required change management, organizational effectiveness/development, HR administration, recruitment/selection, compensation, positive employee relations, performance management, and associate training/development.

  • Experience supporting diverse client groups including manufacturing and non-manufacturing clients ranging from hourly operating associates to professional business functions.

  • Understanding of US labor and employment laws

  • Proficient critical thinking and analytical skills, turning data into insights and action.

  • Outstanding project management, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and act with a high level of tact and composure.

  • Experience working in mid/large complex environments and matrixed organization is desirable

  • A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to shape culture and drive employee engagement.

  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with MS Office and HRIS systems, Workday preferred.

  • PHR/SPHR or other professional certification is desirable.
