BD is looking for a Marketing Data Scientist who will support the marketing and sales organizations with insights gained from analyzing campaign, business, and industry data. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for marketing strategy, tactical, and lead generation optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods/tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations. They must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. The role is part of the BD digital marketing center of excellence (COE) and will be critical in building out analytics capabilities that will be leveraged by analysts working in BD regions around the globe. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Mine and analyze data from marketing, sales, and finance to drive optimization and improvement of marketing mix, funnel velocity, and sales conversions.

  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.

  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.

  • Use predictive/prescriptive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.

  • Develop A/B testing framework and test model quality.

  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.

  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy

  • Work cross-functionally to communicate standards, findings from attribution analysis and optimization strategies across the marketing organization

  • Marketing metrics dashboards for Omni-Channel campaigns

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.

  • Proficiency in building advanced models for generating business insights from structured and unstructured datasets

Education/Experience and Background:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in digital analytics, data science, database analysis, or related  

  • Experience using digital analytic platforms (e.g. Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics)

  • Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to work extremely well with cross-functional teams, independently and proactively (IT, creative, privacy, security, marketing, application development, etc.)

  • Must be results oriented and able to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment and can execute plans and initiatives with sense of urgency

  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.

  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.

  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc.

  • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Power BI, Tableau, etc.

Preferred

  • Experience with media mix modeling, attribution, or predictive modeling preferred

  • Understanding of experimental design principles, test vs. control requirements and analysis

  • Competency working with data from native marketing platforms (e.g. Facebook or Adwords) and Salesforce preferred

  • Biotech or regulated environment experience preferred
