Job Description Summary

The Service Sales Executive is responsible for working directly with customers, contracts and field personnel to secure maintenance and service agreements for capital equipment. This position works in a very fast paced environment where a high volume of work is processed and minimal errors are expected. This position directly impacts the company's service revenue. Professionalism is a must.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Field Sales team to Manage Service Contract renewals:
    • Responsible for converting Time & Material customers to a Service Contract.
    • Train Field associates on how to sell service and present the different service tiers
    • Proactively communicates with field associates to generate leads by conveying benefits associated with obtaining a BD Service Agreement.
    • Attains or exceeds the overall sales plan
    • Identify at risk customers and coordinate BD resources to resolve account’s concern in a timely manner.
    • Generate Service History Reports when requested by customers and/or field management
    • Assists Inside Sales, Customers, Field Service Engineers, Sales Representatives and Credit Department personnel regarding service agreement pricing, inquiries, problems/complaints, etc.
    • Provides assistance to Credit Department in researching past due invoices and problem situations. Prepares credit memos when appropriate, obtaining necessary approvals.
    • Keeps abreast of basic requirements for regulatory compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements. Participates in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work as necessary. Brings regulatory compliance questions or issues to the attention of management.
    • Prepares ad hoc reporting as requested.
    • Ensures timely documentation of all service contract requests or opportunities
    • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
  • Escalation Point for all non-standard T&C's for DS Sales Regions – negotiate business and legal terms and conditions.
  • May include Super User responsibilities for SFDC, SMX and SAP
  • Identify and document process improvements
  • Creating sales tools and/or materials to support sales efforts to move more service.
  • Additional Special Projects may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably Life Science or Medical Technology
  • Minimum of 3 years’ documented sales success (top20%) in broad range laboratory products with 1 year clinical laboratory and/or multi-level selling experience preferred
  • A combination of clinical market sales, financial or technical selling related experience required
  • Experience attaining or exceeding overall sales plan profitability, as well as other assigned goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of selling process and components to build/ maintain customer loyalty
  • Preparation and closing skills to include direct sales, use of distribution channel and/or team selling
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards.

  • Willingness to travel up to 70%

Assets:

  • Experience with Salesforce, ServiceMax and SAP an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Working knowledge of capital equipment service contracts
  • Familiar with business law terms and conditions with ability to recognize terms and conditions that would put BD at risk
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and interpersonal interaction required
  • Experience with medical device service contracts. 
  • Strong organizational skills, account assessment and relationship development
