BD has an opportunity for a Project Specialist in our RTP location in NC. This role will be a specialist dedicated to supporting the unique needs of BD’s IT needs for our RnD organization. The IT Specialist will act as the technical leader for all internal IT needs of the RnD organization helping drive the technical direction of infrastructure and security projects.

The specialist will be part of the Site Service Delivery (SSD) organization which is responsible for all infrastructure and security delivery. The SSD team is the gatekeeper / interface between the BD internal Business Relationship Management, Businesses, Functions, IT Global Infrastructure Towers and the Suppliers / Vendors servicing BD with IT services, operations, and technical project execution. Any IT technical aspects, one-time efforts, or long-term service establishment to the business, is being addressed by the SSD groups. The SSD team owns related Project Management, Project Execution, Communications Management as well as Risk and Issue Management.

Objective:

Partner with the BDTI R&D leaders, SMEs and TGS teams to understand strategic priorities and complete the associated work

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Develop a deep knowledge of R&D function within BDTI, including key driver goals, short- and long-term roadmaps, key projects, and personnel

  • Act as an interface between CAE/R&D group, global infrastructure, change management, and technology support teams

  • Ensure communication of change implementations and service impacts

  • Provide an escalation point for when service levels are missed or at risk and coordinate resolution of issues with infrastructure, change, and support teams

  • Provide program and project management services across all technology towers

  • Work with other TGS business partner teams and external partner teams to define, document, analyze and prioritize existing and emerging business requirements

  • Complete the projects needed to implement technology, processes, or services to meet R&D team requirements including the documentation, testing and implementation

  • Applies comprehensive understanding of concepts within own technical area to design relatively advanced solutions; demonstrates understanding of key business drivers

  • Has a broad and in-depth understanding of IT Infrastructure technologies

  • Serves as a specialist within a technical area and educates others on technical issues

  • Draws on standard methodologies and comprehensive technical knowledge to advise internal/external customers

  • Approaches issues from multiple perspectives and collaborates with internal/external customers in generating creative, effective and practical solutions

Experience

  • at least 10 years of Demonstrated ability in IT and 5 years in an Engineering, Project Management, or other technical leadership role

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology, business or a related field is required. Master’s degree is highly desirable. Educational certificate or training in cloud technology is a plus

  • Proficiency in system development life cycle documentation, testing and release cycle protocols including business requirements documentation, test scenarios/data/execution, cutover, hypercare, project planning and status reporting

  • Experience working in a corporate environment and working with outsourced providers

  • Savvy in working with geographically distributed team members / virtual collaboration

  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting with strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills

  • Strong humility, listening, creativity, and negotiation skills

Technical skills

  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN technologies

  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure and IT security

  • Familiarity using Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, O365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Active Directory, Messaging, DNS, Site & Services, Group Policies, Share / Folder permission standard methodologies & security groups

  • Experience with Client Computing

  • Working knowledge of cloud compute & storage (e.g. Azure, Oracle, AWS)
