Remote- Hypercare Manager

Job Description Summary

The Global Procurement Hypercare Manager provides customer-centered critical care support for unique or complex issues arising either internally or externally. The Hypercare Manager is part of the Hypercare team deployed by the Global Procurement Leadership Team to act as internal consultants to identify an issue and as required apply problem solving solutions including DMAIC project management techniques.

The Procurement Hypercare Manager, is responsible for assisting in the development of processes to facilitate the resolution of issues and mitigating risk, in collaboration with the Hypercare team, Procurement BDX associates and leadership, and/or third parties. 

Will assign projects either by:

A) identifying issues and making recommendations to the Sr. Manager of prioritized projects to pursue,


B) by being assigned a project by the Sr. Manager and/or Global Leadership Team (“GPLT”).

Projects may include any number of issues that cause delays, result in negative cost savings for BD, or have a high risk of negatively impacting BD.  Examples include but are not limited to supply continuity issues that are considered extremely urgent and may result in lost revenue or savings, end of life or material discontinuations, and work process inconsistencies. The triage to successful completion or transition to the process maintenance owner, including tracking project actions, reporting progress against planned timeline, making resource requests, confirming compliance to any defined budgets and project governance, as well as utilizing project prioritization methodologies and portfolio management when assigned multiple projects.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support the Global Procurement and by extension the Company’s overall vision by engaging with internal stakeholders and external third parties to solve problems and coordinate solutions.

  • Make decisions and recommendations on solutions to issues, including a framework for ensuring compliance upon successful implementation. 

  • Perform initial assessment of the issue, reviewing requirements and defining success with key stakeholder.

  • Be accountable for schedule development, resource and other planning, and the review of project progress

  • As needed, assist with the formation of an effective cross-functional team.

  • Build consensus for solution and utilize project governance as needed for compliance to solution

  • Keep customer informed of how and when issues are resolved.

  • Establish a periodic review and follow-up mechanism to ensure the solution remains in place.   

Scope Of Responsibilities:

  • Identifies Hypercare issues and risks, and proposes mitigation projects.

  • Leads the implementation and successful completion of assigned project or a portfolio of projects.

  • Conducts project meetings and action reviews, including meeting prep and follow-up notes/actions.

  • Ensures effective, accurate and timely communication across the team and other functional areas.

  • Tracks progress against plan and approved targets; manages the project budget (if applicable)

  • Accountable for communicating project/portfolio status to the Sr. Manager and GPLT.

  • Maintain all documents and document repositories related to the projects.

  • Stay current with process and product updates.

  • May perform other job duties as directed by manager.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field

  • Minimum 7 years of professional work experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Hypercare and/or project management experience

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and corrective actions

  • Successful track record in implementing DMAIC, six sigma and lean methodologies

  • Excellent project management with demonstrated experience in managing scope, schedule and budget from initiation through closure.

  • Adept in leading cross-functional teams with proven experience in collaborating with stakeholders of all levels inside and outside.

  • Strong influencing and communication skills within a highly matrixed and multi-cultural organization

  • Proficiency in using standard project tools (MS Office, MS Project, MS SharePoint, etc.)

  • Average to above average proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to assess situation and apply strategic mindset to finding a resolution

  • Knowledgeable in change management best practices.

  • Experienced establishing and implementing controls to manage scope change and reporting project schedule/budget performance.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, complexity and working under pressure with tight timelines and moving targets

  • Strong team player able to work both collaboratively and independently

  • PMP and/or Lean/Six Sigma certification a plus
