Director, Information Security - Medical Segment

Job Description Summary

The IS Director will be responsible for improving the security for multiple BUs (Business Units); R&D, operations, and products and solutions, in design and use and through partnership. This person will oversee and direct the adoption of the IS framework and various other aspects of the overarching IS program (e.g. risk assessment, awareness/training, incident response, strategic initiatives, and external engagements). The IS Director will engage BU Leadership Teams to report on progress, resolve issues, and implement strategic initiatives. The IS Director will effectively utilize available resources, both corporate and within the BUs, with expertise in security testing, architecture, incident response, and program management to build cybersecurity capabilities and maturity.

Job Description

  • Ensure relevance and adoption of product security framework activities

  • Collaborate with BU Leadership Teams on critical cybersecurity issues, tactical alignment, and strategic initiatives

  • Provide proactive guidance to BU leaders for strategic decision making regarding industry and regulatory trends, changing compliance initiatives, and certification needs and gaps.

  • Program Management of remediation projects, new product development security solutions, process development, and capability maturity

  • Provide product security expertise and establish product security partnerships with customers and external agencies, e.g., FDA, DHS, AAMI, Advamed

  • Oversee development and updates to BU quality procedures and functional SOPs ensuring alignment to corporate security policies and procedures

  • Provide cross-functional and cross BU leadership to communicate and prepare the organization for changes in World-Wide regulations and standards for Cybersecurity in Medical Devices

  • Leadership and development of direct reports in the BU IS function including IS officers, managers and engineers

  • In collaboration with R&D, be the authoritative source for BU product security direction ensuring reliable solutions, implementation, and support

  • Authority on IS for the BUs under their direction and provide the primary liaison with legal and privacy officers.

  • May perform other duties as required

The IS Director will work with product teams and functional groups on determining objectives, scope and timeline for key IS initiatives while maintaining alignment with BD KDGs and business objectives.  The IS Director is the authority for the BU for compliance with regulations and standards for cybersecurity in the BU’s products.  In collaboration with R&D, Service, Quality, Legal, and the corporate privacy officer, the IS Director sets clear direction for the maturity and adoption of solutions, processes, policies, and procedures.

Education & Experience                 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree required. Ideal candidate will have a degree in project management, computer science, or technical discipline.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device product development, Cybersecurity, and proven ability to operate cross functionally to execute on BU-wide initiatives.

  • Minimum of 3 years in an Associate Director role or equivalent

  • Certification in Cybersecurity, Healthcare Information Privacy and Security, or related cybersecurity certifications preferred
