Position Purpose

The Continuous Improvement Project Manager is responsible for overseeing change initiatives that improve the way we deliver software.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in change management; experienced in rolling out solutions and systems that required gaining employee consensus and buy-in.  They will also have experience working across multiple teams, be able to facilitate focus groups, and synthesize findings into an executable strategy.  Given this individual will be implementing continuous improvement within a software delivery organization, the ideal candidate will have experience working in this environment.

The candidate will have strong influential managerial skills with a proven record of leading others to a successful outcome.  The candidate should have an agile mindset - able to adapt to changes based on recommendations, learnings, and schedule changes.  Also, the candidate will seek to develop a prioritized backlog of initiatives and focus areas to help with resource allocation.  They must also be a highly effective communicator with the ability to communicate project plans, risks, pros/cons, and potential solutions. 

Each change initiative will be treated like a project that the project manager will oversee. The project manager will incorporate change management best practices into project planning activities to improve the initiative’s chances of success.  They will track milestones, resource allocation, risks, issues, and changes as in any project.  Experience with project management is a must.

Accountabilities

  • Demonstrates deep understanding of project management principles.
  • Is familiar with and is able to apply change management methodologies to project planning and execution
  • Facilitates the definition of scope, schedule, and resources for cross team initiatives  
  • Facilitates identification and mitigation of project risk and issues
  • Measures project performance and communicates progress and recommendations to senior management
  • Applies in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations.
  • Provides leadership in the form of coaching, mentoring, and/or training.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of project management experience, PMP preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience incorporating change management practices into projects they have led
  • Solid knowledge and application of Agile software development principles and methodologies
  • Experience presenting findings to senior management
  • Ability to lead cross-organizational teams
  • Ability to manage others and set priorities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience working in a software development organization
  • Skilled in meeting facilitation, action item identification, and follow up.
