Sirigen, Inc. is a subsidiary of BD Biosciences and produces polymeric reagents for use in Flow Cytometry and other biological applications.
We are looking for a Scientist II for our dye development team to support develop novel fluorescent dyes for use in Flow Cytometry. Individual will work within cross-functional teams to address unmet needs within the Sirigen dye portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience with small molecule and/or macromolecule/polymer synthesis including separation and characterization and knowledge of various tools for statistical analysis.
Synthesize small molecule and macromolecule/polymer dyes using reaction templates and SOPs
Support the analysis and development of synthetic procedures, purification methods, and analytical techniques
Contributes to test plans and experimental design integrating statistical tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE)
Collate, analyze, and present findings and summaries in regular team meetings
Work with subject matter experts with scoping and planning experimental designs
Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by reporting manager.
Education and Experience:
Successful candidate will possess a B.S. Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or Life Science.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Experience in organic synthesis or macromolecular/polymer chemistry, fluorescent dye chemistry a plus.
Experience with HPLC/SEC/IEC chromatography.
Experience with UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy.
Good organizational and project planning skills.
Strong diagnostic, analytical and technical ability.
Experience with Six Sigma, MiniTab, or statistical analysis preferred.
Experience with antibody conjugation and flow cytometry a plus.
Multi-task to cover a variety of job functions.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
