Sr. Manager EHS & Sustainability
Job Description SummaryReporting to the WW VP, MMS Operations, the incumbent is responsible for management and performance of the Environmental, Health, and Safety and Sustainability function for MMS Operations. They lead the network of EHS associates across sites in the business unit in order track and measure performance, assess capability levels and identify common areas of EHS risks that can be managed across sites through program implementation. They provide ongoing support to site EHS associates to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulation across sites in the MMS portfolio. The Sr. Manger EHS and Sustainability is a key advisor for the Operations Leadership Team for the business unit, ensuring that EHS and Sustainability aspects are considered in the business's operations strategy (ex. architecture/ process changes). MMS Operations network includes 5 MMS WW manufacturing and warehouse locations (San Diego, CA; Tijuana, Mexico; Otay San Diego, CA; Kelberg, Germany; and Israel) and contract manufacturing partners. This individual is a member of the MMS WW Operations Leadership team and represents at the EH&S and Sustainability Segment level.

Provides oversight to the level of EHS and Sustainability resourcing at the site level based on the nature of operations andfocuses on capability building across site level EHS associates in the MMSnetwork.
Establishes systems to track and report EHS and sustainability performance metrics to BU Operations leaders. Engages BU Operations LT on EHS and Sustainability matters to ensure a strong culture of associate safety and environmental management.
Assists sites with injury/incident investigations; ensures proper root cause analysis is performed, that safety alerts are written up and distributed and that corrective actions are address across the MMS network of sites.
Collaborates with Corporate EHS and Sustainability staff on the development of policies, goals, and programs; leads the implementation of policies/programs with site EHS staff.
Conducts site visits across the MMS network to provide coaching/training on EHS and sustainability capability building; and to support and advise sites in the event of significant changes (ex. construction/ process changes).
Works with plant managers/ site leadership to evaluate the performance of site EHS and sustainability associates and programs, and to provide support in the recruitment and hiring of EHS professionals for anyopenings at the site level.
Establishes mechanisms to periodically review policies, programs, and metrics to ensure alignment of EHS and sustainability strategies with business needs.
Advises sites in the MMS portfolio in the event of government agency inspections (i.e., OSHA or EPA) and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Acts as a liaison between the site and Corporate EHS and Legal when correspondence is needed with government agencies.
Keeps abreast of changes to EHS and Sustainability regulations that may impact MMS operations; Initiates changes to practices and procedures to support compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to use influence skills to successfully develop and implement effective safety and environmental programs which engage all sites across the BU portfolio.
Effective communication and presentation skills, and the ability to exercise judgment and appropriately communicate and manage during crisis situations, if they are to arise.
Incumbent executes responsibilities with a degree of flexibility, reporting solid line to BU Operations, with dotted line to Corporate EHS.
Incumbent must engage and gain the support of associates in various positions of responsibility and in various functions within BD worldwide. This includes associates in these functions who occupy positions of authority that is equal to, greater than or less than the incumbent. Incumbent must clearly communicate project plans and resource requirements to gain the support of these individuals.
Incumbent must be able to understand the overall operations strategy for the BU and be able to structure and implement an EHS and sustainability strategy to support operations.
Demonstrated understanding of federal and state safety and environmental laws and the ability to identify and evaluate workplace hazards and environmental requirements.
Effective skills in the areas of counseling, coaching, and influencing.

Direct influence and responsibility EHS and Sustainability compliance and performance across all MMS global sites.
Direct influence on plans and project priorities. Provides leadership and direction to Plant Managers on EHS and Sustainability resourcing and capabilities at the site level.
Direct influence on programs/ policies coming from Corporate EHS; participates on projects and forums convened by Corporate EHS and Sustainability.
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management or Occupational Safety and Health or related degree.
10 years of general EHS experience with at least 5 years of experience managing EHS at the site level.
Ability to manager multiple EHS Programs
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred to ensure continuing education of current EH&S trends and knowledge
Experience designing and implementing strategies/programs/processes that supports a business strategy.
Ability to travel globally (~25-30%)
