The Medication Management Solutions (MMS) business is a $2.2B global provider of Medication Management technology serving Acute Care Hospitals, Non-Acute Care, and Retail Pharmacies. We are focused on making the medication use process simpler, safer and smarter.
MMS' Strategy & Business Development group has responsibility for supporting the development and execution of both short- and long-term growth strategies of the Business Unit, its regions and worldwide platforms. Individuals in the group identify, evaluate, value, structure and negotiate business opportunities including acquisitions, divestitures, strategic alliances and equity investments. The group acts as an objective advisor regarding the strategic fit, valuation, and structuring of these various opportunities. Individuals in the group are expected to drive and manage projects and transactions and, where appropriate, to work with the MMS and Regional Leadership Teams and global functions. Finally, the group is responsible for shaping and executing MMS’ strategy as well as developing and maintaining valuation models and transactional, diligence and integration processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead assigned aspects of the transaction process, including valuation and diligence.
Build market, valuation and financial analyses, including discounted cash flow, merger consequences and investment returns for potential transactions.
Play a key role in the development of transactional plans required to evaluate and complete transactions.
Build partnerships with platforms, regions and functions to understand business and inorganic strategies and analyze, assess and present conclusions as to the strategic fit of inorganic opportunities.
Design and conduct strategic, market, competitive and financial analyses of business development opportunities, including potential acquisitions, divestitures, alliances and strategic investments
Organize and coordinate cross functional deal teams.
Synthesize and summarize due diligence findings with focus on identifying key risks.
Assist in the development of transactional and integration plans required to evaluate and complete transactions.
Be willing to travel up to 25%
Based in San Diego, CA
B.A. or B.S. degree. Background in finance or accounting preferred. M.B.A. or equivalent degree preferred.
History of outstanding academic and professional achievement.
Minimum of five years business experience, preferably in investment banking or corporate finance. Experience in medical or health care industry is preferred.
Demonstrated quantitative and strategic thinking aptitude.
Advanced corporate finance, modeling and project management skills.
Experience structuring, negotiating and closing business development-related transactions.
Strong capabilities in understanding and structuring complex transaction documents.
Ability to partner with attorneys and other deal professionals in developing and evolving transaction structures, integrating due diligence findings and driving successful negotiation outcomes.
Excellent communication (written and verbal), leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within teams.
