Sirigen, Inc. is a subsidiary of BD Biosciences and produces fluorescent dye reagents for use in Flow Cytometry and other biological applications.
We are seeking a highly motivated analytical scientist for our dye development team committed to developing novel fluorescent dyes for use in Flow Cytometry. Individual will work within cross-functional teams to address unmet needs within the Sirigen R&D team for the development of new separation and analytical methods. The ideal candidate will apply their experience with various chromatography techniques, to enable small molecule and macromolecular/polymer separations and characterization to build dyes from early proof-of-concept to formal product development.
Collaborate with QC and process development teams to develop new analytical and separation methods for fluorescent dyes.
Identify potential new technologies for separation and analytics of fluorescence-based materials.
Develop analytical methods from initial feasibility experiments through robustness and capability assessments.
Design and execute on measurement system analysis (MSA) and Gage R&R studies.
Work collaboratively in small teams with chemists, biochemists and applications scientists to establish dye specifications through data driven recommendation.
Work within early product pipelines, contributing to various stages of development from early proof-of-concept to process development.
Write reports that help build case for setting dye specifications through statistical processes and data analysis.
Perform and coordinate a wide variety of small-molecule and macromolecular processing, purification and characterization steps.
Draft SOPs, technical reports, and presentations for communicating project progress.
Mentor associates and scientists in experimental design, data interpretation, laboratory and instrumental techniques and standard methodologies.
Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's Degree with at least 5 years of proven experience in organic or materials chemistry.
Minimum of 3 years' experience with IEX chromatography.
Minimum of 3 years' experience with HPLC chromatography and method development.
Experience with Six Sigma, MiniTab, or statistical analysis
Efficient with design including statistical approaches such as Design of Experiment (DoE) approach.
Some experience organic synthesis/bioconjugation/materials science strongly desired.
Good organizational and project planning skills.
Experience with product design and process development.
Able to present clear and concise written and oral communications to colleagues and supervisors.
Lead and/or participate in technical meetings and provide recommendations based on technical results.
Strong diagnostic, analytical and technical ability
Strong technical writing skills.
Multi-task to cover a variety of job functions.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Ph.D with minimum 1-3 years of proven experience is strongly preferred.
