Sr. Staff Systems Engineer (Technical Lead) is responsible for using their broad technical expertise, leadership skills, and product development process knowledge to be the technical leader for next generation automated medication dispensing systems development. The expectation for a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer is that they represent the R&D function on project core teams and act as a role model of technical excellence. As a hands-on engineer and the systems architect, you are expected to be highly knowledgeable about the technical details, serve as a key resource to examine system level technical issues and bring to resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Marketing and Medical Affairs teams to drive understanding customer needs and effectively translating them into system and product requirements.

  • Drive identifying potential hazards and assesses requirements to ensure product compliance to safety and regulatory standards

  • Drive product design architecture definition that builds on leading edge technology, optimizes user experience, and helps develop amazing products. 

  • Proactively identify technical risks and mitigation pathways 

  • Lead and drive activities of prototyping, system integration, testing, and troubleshooting of complex automated medication dispensing systems and provide data-driven recommendations. 

  • Partner with engineering managers and the development teams to design experimental plans, perform studies and analyze and communicate results and their impact on the project through written reports, presentations, interactive discussions including leading stage-gate design reviews, and design documentation.

  • Serve as the lead technical point of contact that others rely on to interpret and clarify the platform & system concepts and requirements.

  • Document the decisions in a system architecture document that will also provide relevant risk guidance for the engineering team. 

  • Facilitate cross-functional team knowledge sharing and experiences to promote the understanding and resolution of issues

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. A post graduate degree is desired.

  • 10 years of related work experience in a similar role especially in making architectural decisions is required.

  • A very strong technical background and experience within Systems Engineering is required – Translation of User/Business Needs to System Requirements, Requirements Management, System Architectural Development, Functional Modeling, Systems Integration, Statistical Test Design, Verification and Validation, Hazards Analysis, and Failure Modes Effects Analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and provide solutions to complex problems and familiar with methods & tools as Design of Experiment (DOE), root-cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and hands-on experience with Design for Six Sigma is a plus.

  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills, strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to bring clarity to ambiguous areas to drive decisions.
