BD Biosciences, a segment of Becton, Dickinson and Company, is one of the world’s leading businesses focused on bringing innovative tools to life science researchers and clinicians. Its product lines include: flow cytometers, cell imaging systems, monoclonal antibodies, research reagents, diagnostic assays, and tools to help grow tissue and cells.

Sirigen, Inc. is a subsidiary of BD Biosciences and produces polymeric reagents for use in Flow Cytometry and other biological applications.

We are looking for a Staff Project Manager to drive project deliverables with the Sustaining Engineering Group . This cross functional role will be responsible for leading and motivating cross functional teams with one or more projects to implement the improvement, correction, scale-up, and automation of manufacturing processes for existing product and new product introductions.  The successful candidate will have experience in relevant product development and managing projects with planning multiple work-streams, identifying risk, implementing action plans to enable successful execution of business strategy. He or she will drive for continuous improvement and agility in the sustaining process ensuring that program timelines are met or accelerated.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads and supports execution of technical and/or cross-functional project work

  • Ensures implementation and rigor of product development processes and design control procedures

  • Complete understanding of a wide application of project management principles, theories & concepts.

  • Demonstrates leadership, learning agility, and action orientation when facing uncertainty. Instills confidence through leadership and actions

  • Motivates the team to achieve individual and program objectives

  • Responsible for the execution, quality and results of his or her project and the success of the resulting product for the business

  • Manages and guides the day-to-day activities of team members, tracks progress against plan, manages the project budget, identifies project risks and provides plans to mitigate those risks.

  • Possesses the skills, knowledge and aptitude to engage, influence, and direct all functions involved in the development of the assigned product to inspire and motivate the team to achieve a common goal or purpose.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining and developing approach to solutions.

  • Interacts with functional managers and business leaders to communicate critical project risks, questions or challenges.

  • Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by reporting manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Science or Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in product development planning multiple work-streams, identifying risk and implementing action plans to optimize time lines and reduce execution risk.

  • Experience in DFSS, Agile, and/or Scrum.

Assets:

  • Demonstrated learning agility of new subject matter.

  • Experience establishing product requirements from defined needs specifications to product requirements.

  • Experience in PMP preferred.

  • Good organizational and project planning skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to act as a change protagonist.

  • Experience managing ambiguity.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and influencing skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
