About the role:
We are looking for a high-energy, proactive, dynamic leader to join our team in the role of Technical Product Manager (TPM) on the Software Technology Solutions (STS) R&D team based in San Diego (but open to remote candidates willing to occasionally travel to San Diego and/or other BD or customer locations). The TPM role will be responsible for driving, developing, and leading the product roadmap for one or more HealthSightTM software solutions supporting the Pyxis and Alaris product ecosystems and/or software solutions for other BD Business Units and their products.
The TPM is a key leadership role on a cross-functional product team, and in that role is accountable for the product roadmap, release strategy, and solution definition. The TPM drives consensus around a product vision that looks ahead 2+ years, and explicitly aligns features in the roadmap with outcomes: measurable changes in human behavior that bring value for our customers. To build that product vision and consensus around it, the TPM is looked to by the team as the product’s subject matter expert, possessing both a solid command of the technology solution and architecture, and a detailed understanding of the business strategy and initiatives of the Product Marketing team. The TPM also engages with teams such as Medical Affairs, Information Security and Global Customer Services to understand clinical, legal, regulatory, supportability, and product security requirements. The TPM collaborates with Program and Project Managers, Requirements Engineers, UX Designers, Development and Software Quality Engineers to ensure product readiness and implementation supportability, and to define and complete an operational plan that delivers regular releases to our customers.
Key responsibilities will include:
Acts as a leader and a key contributor in a complex environment. The Technical Product Manager is a leadership role that has a high level of influence on the organization.
Develops and manages roadmaps by working and aligning with multiple partners, always being driven by the Voice of the Customer.
Serves as subject matter expert on the product(s) software solutions and capabilities.
Demonstrates deep customer, technical/regulatory and clinical expertise.
Collaborates with appropriate parties to identify the drivers leading to business success.
Evaluates alternative solutions/decisions in light of the potential impact on the internal/external customer.
Understands the resource implications of solutions and makes recommendations in adherence to governance and prioritization guidelines.
Monitors emerging trends and problems within the healthcare market, including macroeconomic, regulatory, compliance, technology and competitive areas, and distills them to product impact and communicates them concisely to the business.
Analyzes potential partnerships and opportunities with third-party vendors.
Builds collaborative relationships with key partners and team members.
Strives to understand others' opinions and build agreement among team members; applies others’ ideas and suggestions to shape solutions.
Influences cross-functional teams/members without formal authority.
Proactively manages collaborators’ expectations appropriately to ensure transparency.
Works with Requirements Engineers to ensure User Stories accurately elaborate the requirements for features in the roadmap, and collaborates on grooming the backlog to support Agile development sprints.
Provides a positive image to the Team. This role has high visibility and often interacts with collaborators and customers.
Demonstrates awareness of how one’s own words and actions are perceived by others, proactively solicits feedback, and adjusts behavior and work style accordingly.

Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and collaboration with MS Teams.
Experience with Azure DevOps and Aha! is highly desired.
Education and experience required:

5+ years’ technical depth and hands-on experience preferably in systems / sales engineering or technical marketing role, and customer-facing experience.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or Engineering-related field (Computer Science preferred); MBA preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience with infusion or medication safety workflows in a connected hospital environment, with EMR integration, and with healthcare IT standards such as HL7 file standards and HL7 FHIR APIs is strongly desired.
Ability to understand complex data models, server architectures, networked systems, cloud solutions, and integration approaches (e.g., file-based ETLs, and real-time APIs).
Experience with and knowledge of cyber-security (e.g. FIPS 140-2) standards strongly desired.
Experience with Quality and Regulatory standards in healthcare.
Proven ability to convey complex technical information to a variety of audiences.
Knowledge of go-to-market needs to ensure successful product rollout and commercial excellence.
Experience with scrum and other Agile development methodologies.
Ability to write user stories and groom a backlog.
Experienced in Lean Start-up methodologies.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Advanced verbal, written and presentation/communications skills.
