Associate Director, eBusiness Programs Manager

Job Description Summary

We are recruiting for a highly driven cross-functional Associate Director, eBusiness Programs Manager to join our newly formed eBusiness organization for BD Biosciences. The role reports to the Director of eBusiness and has overall accountability for leading the internal and external cross-functional teams responsible for the success of the BD Life Sciences eBusiness initiatives. The incumbent is an Agile and SCRUM Master project manager skilled at leading a multi-year, multi-million transformational project aimed at improving customer experience through eBusiness channel; including web, e-commerce, B2B, punchout and other digital tools. This individual lead multiple related but distinct projects with teams comprising members of marketing, IT, shared services (legal, regulatory, etc.), marketing communications and external consulting resources to ensure seamless execution of all phases through commercial launch.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures alignment of eBusiness product value proposition, program scope, and strategic business objectives.
  • Leads the RFP process to find, evaluate and decide on strategic implementation partners required to deliver on the different phases of the multi-year project.
  • Leads cross-functional stakeholders on key design decisions, resource allocation, project planning activities, risk assessment, design and technical reviews, completion of deliverables and resolution of problems.
  • Represents the customer and market viewpoint when leading the team to make technical and program decisions through Agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrates program management best practices and contributes to improving the digital development process.
  • Leads the team to prepare for Phase Gate and other Go/No-Go decisions by executive leadership, ensuring that decisions are informed by a balanced and clearly articulated representation of the relevant data.
  • Leads program planning process ensuring requirements are clear and driven by customer need and experience.
  • Defines, delegates and evaluates the roles, responsibilities, goals and deliverables for core and extended team members.
  • Independently determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
  • Communicates program updates to functional management and executive leadership.
  • Defines program resource needs and negotiates program resourcing plans.
  • Analyzes data and complex situations involving evaluation of tangible variables to programs or collective system of projects.
  • Work with functional leaders to ensure the appropriate Core Team resources and the external strategic partners are committed to the projects and contribute to the expected levels.
  • Ensure effective and efficient regular formal and informal communications with the Core Teams using a variety of tools and channels.
  • Lead, direct, coach, and mentor Core Team members to maximize the success of the digital projects. Provide meaningful and significant feedback to functional leaders regarding the performance of Core Team members that is considered in annual performance evaluations; as well as ensures external vendors and strategic partners accomplished their contracted deliverables.

Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in eBusiness and/or IT program management
  • Ability to lead cross-functional leadership in a matrix organization.
  • Experience in medical device, diagnostics or life sciences preferred. Experience working in an FDA regulated environment preferred.
  • Experience in managing multi-million, multi-year contracts with from external contractors.
  • Demonstrated skill in system integration. Ability to multi-task and work with conflicting design demands and with teams in different geographical locations.
  • Strong project management skills and learning capabilities. Agile methodology a must, SCRUM and PMI certification or equivalent are preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong meeting management skills.
  • Experience in web, ERP and eCommerce systems.
  • Comfortable in a global, fast-paced, always-on, highly matrixed environment with limited resources.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time (domestic & international)
