Job Description Summary

This global role owns electronic catalogs and pricing lists for the entire global BDB portfolio, ensuring that products are correctly listed on all applicable electronics systems and websites (internal and external), with accurate data and pricing and supporting the overall eBusiness strategy for the unit. The incumbent collaborates with product managers, project managers, marketing managers, sales, web developers, regional teams, IT, 3rd party procurement solutions and customers to publish, update and manage the online BDB catalog that supports eCommerce, web and B2B customer experience on

Job Description

Through thorough understanding of customers’ procurement needs, data architecture, SAP, internal processes and BD technologies; this manager will be responsible for driving the playbook and data needs to support the platform teams and regions in launching new products, as well as establishing new e-procurement connections with customers. The ultimate goal of this role is to ensure the right products are available in all the procurement systems and websites, with the right information and images; to improve the customer’s buying experience, sales conversion and business growth.


  • Provide leadership and governance to the product catalog and support architectures to ensure that consistency and accuracy is maintained for the thousands of products presented and transacted on the e-commerce, hosted catalogs and punchout systems globally.
  • Develop and lead processes and communication to launch, regionalize, update and discontinue products in the BDB webstore and e-catalogs by establishing operating mechanisms that ensure e-catalogs are always up-to-date and new products are included upon launch within e-procurement solutions with the appropriate data fields, images and supporting documents.
  • Provide reports and information to the regions and stakeholders on status of projects and catalog launches.
  • Develop and maintain an e-Catalog Product Dashboard.  Use and analyze data to communicate overall product health to stakeholders and develop action plans for areas that are not meeting BDB standards/expectations.
  • Set monthly, quarterly and annual planning process and calendar in collaboration with product managers for product changes, enhancements and discontinuations.
  • Partner with project team and stakeholders to ensure success on all e-catalog activities associated with delivering a new platform for; includes but not limited to documenting processes, issues, gaps and enhancements as well as be an active participate in all project build activities such as testing and rollout/communication strategy.
  • Understand and be the subject matter expert for all relevant e-procurement technologies available within BD (punchout, e-invoicing, e-catalog, etc.)
  • Document, track and measure each step of the e-catalog/BDB Webstore product process and propose improvements required to ensure minimal manual work and maximum speed and efficiency.
  • Support new customer e-procurement connections with the right data files in collaboration with the regions and support multi-regional accounts with unique requirements.
  • Collaborate with other global, regional and eBusiness functions to ensure a seamless customers experience.
  • Troubleshoot, document and prioritize catalog data issues and well as other customer issues with e-procurement connections.
  • Lead, direct, coach and mentor direct reports and/or contractors to maximize the success of processes, tasks and projects.


  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, project management or marketing or equivalent degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a relevant IT or eBusiness role. Prior experience in a science related field as well as direct management experience of an eBusiness, catalog or B2B team are considered a plus.
  • Experience with e-procurement technologies for technical and/or scientific customers.
  • Experience with SAP and basic SEQL databases is required, as well as a solid understanding of “quote to cash” workflows. Preference for experience converting iDocs through to invoice reconciliation and knowledge of Hybris, Halfpipe, databases and complex Excel workbooks. Knowledge of JIRA is also highly desirable.
  • Comfortable learning new systems and processes.
  • Solid understanding of databases, pricing lists, and process development and validation. Lean Six Sigma certification highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated history of acquiring customer feedback and interactions.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with marketers, web designers and IT developers.
  • Fluency in multiple e-procurement technologies and analytics.
  • Comfortable in a global, fast-paced, always-on, highly matrixed environment with limited resources.
