Summary:

The Product Manager will have oversee Marketing strategy and informatics management responsibilities for clinical products and services. This will include the design, development and execution of the marketing mix as well as facilitating all customer facing activities to ensure commercial excellence of informatics projects.

The candidate will drive Informatics strategy for the Clinical platform positioning BD Biosciences as a leader in the flow cytometry industry. In addition, the product manager will provide significant input in long term marketing and overall strategies for the platform overall.

The candidate will Influence the development activities and drive the execution of instrument software planning; serves on GPDS and/or other New Product Development Core Team(s). Working as part of diverse cross-functional teams, the product manager is expected to proactively apply all acquired experience to pre- and post-launch product software management activities from worldwide primary and secondary market research to financial and satisfaction success measuring.

Responsibilities:

Product

  • Gather and synthesize Voice of the Customer (VOC) to define and prioritize the attributes of clinical software products and services, including features, preferences and overall user experience
  • Team with R&D to create and transform prototype designs into minimum viable solutions
  • Oversee product definition to ensure clear communication and coordination of requirements to the business and development teams
  • Manage the product backlog with team by prioritizing customer feedback, bug fixes and the feature roadmap to rapidly iterate the product
  • Initiate, negotiate, and maintain relationships with strategic customers, early adopters and/or development partner network to accelerate business build and launch
  • Develop multi-year product roadmaps
  • Manage pilot / limited commercial release tests in preparation for full market launches
  • Maintain day-to-day activities of the product once it is launched
  • Develop and manage end-of-life plans and management of software product portfolio

Organization / Capability

  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the organization’s ability to meet its strategic, financial, and technical goals
  • In collaboration with team, assist with the development of the business case and operating plan for new ventures, products and services

Qualifications:

Education Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • BA/BS in a Life Science field - An advanced degree in life sciences  or MBA in Marketing preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as product manager for software products/services, with track record across the software product development lifecycle, having shipped multiple products, ideally over multiple releases - preferably in healthcare + 3-5 years in other functions (business, marketing, design, engineering)
  • Flow Cytometry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with software development concepts, processes and documentation
  • A demonstrated ability to proactively build consensus across key stakeholders
  • Requires effective analytical, problem solving, organization and prioritization skills
  • Must possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills

Knowledge and Skills

  • A knowledge and/or understanding of Web, Mobile applications, interfaces, and cloud platforms with a global view
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and opportunistic new ideas with technical and non-technical employees
  • Strong change management & inspirational leadership skills in order to maintain paradigm shift for disciplined execution of lean startup principles
  • Strong communicator with executive presence to instill confidence within the C-suite
