Job Overview:

  • Under the supervision of the Production Manager or designee, the Expediter is responsible with coordinating the flow of production activities by working with Production Planners, Warehouse and Shift Leads/Production Supervisors. 

  • Communicates potential issues with various stakeholders that may affect production schedules and advises on prioritization. 

  • Responsible for raw material inventory management and assists Supervisor/Manager with purchase requisitions. 

  • Follows QSR, ISO, safety and environmental regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dispatches production orders to Access and prints production orders once information is transferred from SAP to Access.

  • Routes production orders to the stock room for material requisitions.

  • Works with warehouse to bring all required materials to the production area. 

  • Ensures that all production materials requested per production orders are accurate prior to physical transfer to Production floor. 

  • Works with stock room on reconciliation of materials as required. 

  • Generates documentation for material movements in accordance with company policies. 

  • Monitors movement of materials into production area to ensure smooth flow of materials. 

  • Notifies Shift Leads/Supervisors of any actual or potential material shortages.

  • Works with Shift Leads across shifts to help establish daily production schedules and prioritization. 

  • Monitors production progress against daily schedules to ensure completion of jobs.

  • Works with Shift Leads/Supervisors on production schedule re-prioritizations due to notification of stock outs or production planning changes.

  • Communicates out to Planning and Production Supervisors/Manager on any issues or possible inability to meet schedule adherence.

  • Works with Planning to expedite as necessary those raw material items that are on stock out and provide status updates to Shift Leads/Supervisors/Manager.

  • Assists with routine inventory management activities to ensure inventory is accurate (Vialing and Packaging Kanban locations) and cycle counting activities as required. 

  • Communicates out on any discrepancies found. Works with Procurement on ordering supplies and consumable raw materials for Production. 

  • Provides status updates to Production on purchase orders.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years experience in a manufacturing environment (Preferably medical device manufacturing).

Minimum Knowledge, Skills or Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.

  • Time management & organizational skills.

  • Quality Systems knowledge desired.

  • Ability to work independently with limited direction.

  • SAP proficiency desired.
