Sales Training Manager- BD Biosciences  (Cell Analysis/Flow Cytometry) - San Jose, CA

Summary:

The Sales Training Manager is responsible for directing a host of strategic training and development activities in support of the U.S. BD Biosciences Cell Analysis Organization. The Role bridges Sales and Marketing to create up and down-stream impacts to strategic planning and commercial excellence.  This individual is responsible for:

  • Providing training and development support to U.S. Field sales team
  • Creating and delivering effective sales training with guidance from U.S. and Global Marketing
  • Liaising between BDX Corporate Sales Effectiveness and BD Biosciences
  • Implementing consultative/application-based training
  • Coaching and directing the activities of newly hired sales specialists
  • Driving adoption of Best Practices and BD Way of Selling methodologies

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional planning teams and provide appropriate training and development guidance based on experience and best practices
  • Design and implement programs for ongoing growth, mentorship and professional development of field-sales and internal associates
  • Actively contribute to the strategic review process as sales enablement thought leader
  • Partner with the global marketing team to strategize training and programs related to existing products and new product launches
  • Communicate with Sales Management concerning progress of new sales representatives
  • Conduct assessments of skills, competencies, and needs of the existing sales team
  • Work with Sales Management to communicate assessed skill ability, progress and successful achievement of development/coaching goals
  • Support the orientation/training program for newly hired sales team members  
  • Work cooperatively with the sales and marketing management teams to plan, organize, and execute regional and national sales initiatives, trade shows, meetings and conferences
  • Domestic and International Travel up to 50% of the time

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from a four year college or university, Master’s degree preferred, research experience a plus
  • Training or teaching experience required and/or technical applications experience considered
  • Experience and/or knowledge with scientific evidence-based selling
  • Experience and/or exposure (training workshops acceptable) with solution-oriented selling methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences in a variety of formal and informal settings
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate and direct dialogue, discussions, training sessions or other related forms of verbal communication in a dynamic team setting
  • Demonstrated ability to use interpersonal savvy to work all levels in the organization, to include but is not limited to, internal resources / teams
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working with customers in the clinical market
  • Demonstrated Leadership abilities, preference for ambitious candidates with interest in earning additional commercial and people management responsibility over time
  • Computer proficiency in MS SharePoint, MS OneDrive, MS Teams, MS Notebook, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Experience with iOSSAP, Salesforce.com, Qlikview preferred
  • Experience and/or knowledge with 21 CFR Part 11 and working in a regulated healthcare environment preferred
