Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director Global Business Process, the Senior Business Process Lead is responsible for sustaining the business process network, improving existing processes, and designing new processes for the BD Biosciences business units and within the EMI organization, where applicable, in one or more of the following areas:


       •    Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) - Demand & Supply Chain Planning, Production, Plant 
                Maintenance, Quality Management, Logistics/Warehousing
       •    Sales – Quote and Contract Management, Order Management, Billing
       •    Procure to Pay – Requisitioning, Purchasing, Receiving, Accounts Payable
       •    Service Management – Repairs, Service Contract Management, Complaint 
                Management
       •    Research & Development - Product Lifecycle Management, Operationalization of New 
                Products 

The Senior Business Process Lead demonstrates a proven ability to perform both operational and strategic assignments with minimal direction and lead/mentor others without direct authority. Focusing on evaluating, leading, and driving end to end business and process improvement through change management activities, the successful individual in this role will excel at forming and maintaining relationships with functional and business leaders to drive value and improve business outcomes. Individual has joint ownership, along with senior leadership, for achievement of goals and objectives for assigned projects.  

The role requires a client service mindset to deliver sustainable, innovative, and creative solutions.  Will be required to understand multiple business areas and functions to effectively collaborate with internal and external business partners to help identify process improvement opportunities, develop detailed options, and execute effective implementations by applying a disciplined, logical, and comprehensive approach to problem solving.  The Senior Business Process Lead will be a self-directed, independent Associate who has dynamic presentation skills, detailed analytical, critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with management across all levels of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Partner with management, project champions, and process owners to contribute to medium to highly complex cross-functional business process initiatives for the assigned area(s) using defined project planning, Lean Six Sigma, and Agile methodologies and tools to:

  • Gather and define business requirements cross-functionally to formulate proposed solutions
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies to current state business processes.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for improvement and the desired future state.
  • Prioritize the opportunities across the business to align with strategic objectives.
  • Drive process optimization and promote commonality/standardization in processes and tools.
  • Assist and potentially lead project teams with implementing improvements and solutions.
  •  Recognize barriers to improvement efforts and work to remove them.
  • Create appropriate documentation (i.e. current and future state process maps, project reports, SOP’s, job aids, and work instructions) as required to design and implement sustainable process and business system solutions.  This includes capturing application of relevant master data to deliver the appropriate business results.

2.    Responsible to ensure business case justifications for ERP design enhancements are complete, robust, and have been vetted across all integrated process areas.
3.    Liaises with other business units and/or regions when developing and/or changing policies, programs or processes as necessary; as well as corporate Process and Global Services organizations when applicable.
4.    Develops data driven presentations and business cases that provide analytical insight and recommendations on standardization and process improvement
5.    Defines, develops, and evaluates performance metrics to establish process success. Works with multiple stakeholders, often with competing/conflicting objectives, to ensure cohesive and reachable measures of success. Reviews data post-implementation to measure success; participates in defining standards of improvement success
6.    Mentor Business Process Leads and proactively engage with Process Integrators within BD Biosciences and the EMI organization to ensure alignment and best practices are shared (application of business process, master data, roles and responsibilities, and system use).
7.    Utilize/develop business system reports to perform root cause analyses that lead to actionable recommendations to improve business performance and processes.
8.    Drive the development of the organizational capabilities related to end-to-end or functional process through the management of the Process Network.  This may include proactively communicating to the assigned superuser network, facilitating superuser meetings, and driving business initiatives through the organization.
9.    Follow all GMP, regulatory, and ISO guidelines including Company policies and departmental procedures
10.    Demonstrates understanding of key local and global regulations affecting the business and assures compliance with those regulations. Assures that business processes and systems fulfill those regulatory requirements. May participate in an evaluation of regulatory strategy and regulatory risk. May recommend changes to practices and procedures to support compliance requirement. 
11.    Performs other related duties and assignments as required
12.    Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.

Qualifications:

  • Masters or BS/BA in Science, Engineering, Business (emphasis in operations and/or supply chain) in addition to 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing/business environment, preferable in a global environment, with a proven track record of successfully developing business process improvement workflows with minimal oversight.
  • Minimum of 5 years of application and process experience working in SAP, SCM (Supply Chain Management) or other ERP platform in the area of planning (material, production, demand/supply) and/or production execution.  Strong knowledge of data analytics for business intelligence is a plus. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing and leading projects 
  • Agile, Lean Enterprise, Six Sigma experience and/or certification preferred

Additional Knowledge and skills:

  • Strong business knowledge with demonstrated facilitation and leadership skills; ability to drive for results without direct authority
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to build rapport and relationships and influence senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, lead and execute on a variety of assignments and action plans; demonstrated ability to drive for results, manage and execute complex projects by translating complex concepts into actionable, measurable tasks; developing business solutions from inception to deployment
  • Able to effectively plan, prioritize, and work on many key initiatives at the same time, solve problems and implement decisions effectively, involving the right people in the process.
  • Collaborative and innovative mentality to foster team work, strong cross-functional integration with diverse perspectives, and bring teams to consensus/alignment in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to work and thrive in global and highly ambiguous environments with ever-changing priorities with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitation skills, and presentation development skills.
  • Working knowledge with Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement approaches and tools
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools
