About the role:

As our Senior Manager, Single cell multi-omics Instrument Development, you will lead the development activities related to our consumables and instrument platforms. In this role you will combine technical leadership and people management and dedication to the highest standards of program execution, to operate successfully within a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary team. Not only will you be responsible for leading current instrument development but also work with partners in Marketing, Operations, and R&D to help build a long-term strategic roadmap to serve rapidly growing single cell technologies in discovery and translational research applications.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead a team of engineers in a direct and matrixed fashion from multiple disciplines
• Set goals for the team, hiring engineers and prioritizing projects against the mid-term to long-term plans and roadmap.
• Active involvement in developing new instrument products, identifying requirements, and setting timelines with commercial, business, and program management partners
• Collaborate and coordinate with multiple core engineering functions including software, mechanical, electrical as you manage sophisticated engineering projects end-to-end as a team lead
• Act as subject matter expert in microfluidic consumable and instrument development
• Coordinate with internal R&D functional partners for seamless system integration and validation across reagents, assay, and bioinformatics
• Represent engineering disciplines at the R&D leadership level for the single cell Multiomics programs
• Form a positive relationship with Operations in the support of on market and future consumables and instruments

About you:

You will have 10+ years of instrument development experience within a fast-paced-collaborative environment, preferably in microfluidic consumables for biological applications. A Proven track record of product development and launches under ISO 9001 in the life sciences or biosciences field, preferably in genomics or single cell related technologies is vital for your success. Additionally, you will possess experience scaling and building highly technical hardware/product development teams and an ability to lead integration of mechanical, electrical, optical and software projects that result in sophisticated yet elegant and robust products.

Education and experience:

• MS/BS or PhD in a core engineering field
• Demonstrated ability to attract, develop and retain top talent while providing mentorship and career advancing opportunities to managers and subordinates
• Leadership skills in a highly matrixed environment, which involves project and functional organization; ability to empower an organization to act.
• Identify new capabilities, innovations, and technologies. Propose initiatives to implement new capabilities and lead, monitor and evaluate their success.
• Experience working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines and to make progress with multiple project and functional priorities simultaneously.
• Aid in managing and contributing to the development of intellectual property
