Job Description Summary

BD is revolutionizing single-cell biology through the invention and application of tools – such as BD Rhapsody™ and BD™ AbSeq – to enable researchers to delineate the complexity of biology. The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary R&D team with specialties in immunology, molecular biology, engineering, and bioinformatics to deliver exceptional products to researchers. She or he will design, perform experiments, and generate deliverables for our single-cell applications and product development projects, as well as lead the knowledge transfer of our products to the Customer Support team. Success in this role requires a strong scientific background with molecular and immunology expertise and ability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced field.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform experiments to investigate novel applications for the BD Rhapsody™ platform in immunology and other biomedical disciplines
  • Conceptualize and perform feasibility experiments on new single cell sequencing technologies
  • Produce technical content and materials for internal and external users of our products
  • Be part of the product development process for new genomics products
  • Lead in transferring knowledge in single-cell products to the Customer Support team
  • Assist in troubleshooting for our Customer Support team and capture lessons learned and document internal knowledgebase of our technologies
  • Manage the escalation process between Customer Support and R&D
  • Prepare conference abstracts and present cutting-edge single-cell genomics technologies at major scientific conferences

Required Skills:

  • PhD degree in molecular biology, immunology, bioinformatics, biomedical sciences, or related field
  • 2+ years of industry work experience preferred
  • Strong background molecular biology and immunology, exemplified by publication of peer-reviewed journals
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, quick learner with ability to adapt to change
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Team-oriented
  • Highly motivated, responsible, independent self-starter, and problem solver

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in generating customer-facing materials desirable
  • Experience with single-cell RNA-seq assays or other NGS assays highly desirable
  • Experience with cell culture and cell sorting highly desirable
  • Experience in technical writing, exemplified by publication of peer-reviewed journals
