Country General Manager, Nordics (Nordics based/hybrid working)

We are now looking for a Country General Manager located close to one of our Nordics sites in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark to manage the Nordic region (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland), which represents a turnover of approximately 180 million euros.

About the role

The Country General Manager is a part of the leadership team in Nordics includes the Business Unit Leaders, Strategic Account Manager, Commercial Operations Manager, Sr Strategic Marketing Manager, Finance, HR and Customer Service. The BU Leaders, with the exception of BDI, as well as the Strategic Account Manager, Commercial Operations Manager, Sr Strategic Marketing Manager report directly to the CGM and functional leaders report to their respective EMEA leaders but have all a dotted line into the CGM as well. The BU leaders have a dotted line to their regional VPGM for their respective BU.

The Country General Manager Nordics provides leadership to the regional organization and develops BD’s business for sustainable and profitable revenue growth. The role is responsible to ensure the effectiveness and alignment of the Go-To-Market organization to the healthcare systems, markets, sales channels and customers across BD businesses. The CGM represents the critical linkage point between BD's global capabilities and the needs of the countries the role represents. As such, the person in this position is the BD leader most responsible for achieving the organization's purpose of 'Advancing the world of health' across Nordics.

As a Country General Manager Nordics, you owe and drive the Commercial Model development, including Strategic Account Management capabilities, building and supporting cross BU collaboration and positioning BD as preferred partner to our customers. This also includes development of value offers and solutions for key customers, further embedding of Customer Excellence and a unified selling process, including the adoption of our CRM system and execution of local marketing strategies. In this role, you build and maintains access to National Healthcare Authorities, Policy Makers and Regulators. Together with the Public Policy function, provides advocacy to influence the public policy agenda on healthcare topics relevant to BD.

Main responsibilities include:

Customer Focus:

  • Build an extensive network of external partners. The CGM has access to national healthcare authorities who supervise the industry and decide on reimbursement.

  • Create external coalitions for pursuing critical initiatives, successfully aligning internal functions and relevant businesses for support and expertise.

Business Engagement:

Lead business activities for achievement of short and long term business objectives, driving sustainable growth and profitability. Monitors results and ensures corrective actions take place, if needed. In collaboration with global or regional businesses:

  • Develops appropriate Go-To-Market strategy to ensure an effective market and channel resource deployment and coverage in line with the current and future needs of the target customers.

  • Responsible for high level agreements in the country, maintains working relationship with key business partners to drive revenue growth.

  • Ensure that BD's relationships and agreements with distributors, agents and other supply chain partners reflect the best industry practice and are fully in compliance with national, US and European laws and regulations.

  • Is accountable for the country P & L (Revenue, Standard GP, SSG&A) and for achieving relevant financial objectives (Cash Flow management).

  • If country includes manufacturing sites, interacts to support their business agenda.

Entrepreneurship:

  • Capable to identify and develop strategic business growth opportunities for BD within his country, and represents and communicates them within the company.

  • Work with relevant collaborators to build business for investments or operational improvements, and runs to a conclusion.

  • Successful commercialization of new products and growth drivers, and market development as defined in BD’s Strategic Plan.

Business Planning:

  • Partner with regional/worldwide businesses to build a 3–5 year country strategy. Work across business units to create an integrated country plan, overcoming internal barriers. This involves the development of the country's commercial plan, including market development, customer centricity/commercial excellence and GTM objectives, plan and strategies.

Talent Development:

  • Own the countries talent agenda by building the capabilities to deliver on the 3-5 year strategy align with the company direction.

  • Identify, coach, develop and supervise future leaders and champions. Create opportunities for development and movement. Builds efficient teams.

  • Actively identify diverse slates of “high-potentials” and intentionally plans for grow their career (i.e., moves, assignments and skills development) through a well-planned and timed set of experiences.

  • Strengthen the Talent Pipeline by creating a divers leadership bench from Sales Management upwards, ensures the development of critical marketing capabilities, and improves in terms of hiring and leadership development.

  • Actively participate as a member of the European Management Team and any other teams deemed appropriate to enhance corporate transformation and promote company initiatives. Ensures appropriate communication channels are established within the country.

  • Proactively drive and support process alignment and efficiency for functions in the country within the scope of the global functional strategies.

About you

We are looking for a strategic problem solver general manager, able to understand and articulate strategic orientation for the business. The ideal profile has previous working experience, either in country or regional business leadership role with a strong background of business success in a multinational or international medical devices or diagnostics company.

The Country General Manager Nordics has knowledge of Health Care Economics and Market Access and various country healthcare systems. As a strong leader with running cross-sector initiatives and experienced in working in public policy and external affairs is eager to collaborate optimally with external leaders and key influencers.

Fluency in English is a MUST and a location close to one of our BD Nordic office is required.
