The purpose of the Marketing department at BD is to drive sustainable profitable growth by defining, executing and continually improving the global marketing and business strategies of BD. We engage in critical thinking to inform high-quality marketing choices that drive our growth.

The Digital Surgical Education Coordinator wil lead all aspects of the logistics, technology, and seamless execution of online virtual/digital events for BD Surgery’s Surgical Education. Virtual events include such things as meetings, webinars, conferences, surgeon trainings events and virtual trade shows. It may also in time include special project supporting virtual reality/augmented reality training simulators or other digital technology training modalities.

This role will support evolving business needs by:

  • Supporting the Surgical Education Team and Digital Surgical Education Manager in the execution of outstanding digital education, for surgeons and other health care professionals, to raise awareness to and on the safety and effectiveness of Surgery’s commercially available portfolio.
  • Lead the execution and management of all digital content on current and future digital technology platforms.
  • Support execution of the omni-channel marketing strategy for BD Surgery’s Surgical Educational mission and objectives.


  • Coordinating and executing all details and logistics for BU virtual education events, including working with vendors to plan and execute events; surgeon faculty and/or their hospital colleagues to prepare for and successfully execute events; prepare and gain BU approval for digital event content, promotional and omni-channel marketing materials; manage approved content on variety of technology sites including  Surgical Education site, Hernia U and other approved sites.
  • Work very effectively with other BU Surgical Educational team members, such as Surgeon Education Regional Managers, Surgeon Education Coordinator team along with BU Platforms, to ensure alignment on strategies, tactics, and business objectives, and to achieve the highest impact and success. 
  • Work with BU Marketing Communications team to support social media, search engine optimization, sales force campaigns and other elements to support digital strategy and customer experience.
  • Work with Manager to develop, track, and report on department digital expenses; metrics reporting; adherence to compliance requirements and procedures; conduct variety of marketing research surveillance activities to evaluate, supervise and measure program efficiency, effectiveness and customer needs; and other ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Responsible for coordinating and crafting weekly electronic communications and newsletters, collaborating in the creation of content, routing and managing content in Veeva (Approval software-based system) and tracking them as requested by Supervisor
  • Responsible for collaborating in the development and implementation of new tools that improve the effectiveness, efficiency, compliance, and execution of department –related programs and processes
  • Other ad hoc projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years of combined experience in event planning, training, LMS and/or digital education platforms. Digital event planning experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience preferred with virtual digital technology programs such as MS Teams, Zoom, Global Meets, Marketo, Sales Force, Adobe Connect, etc.
  • A record of success measured by accomplishments vs. objectives.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Proven track record successfully working with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong desire for creativity, ownership and accountability.
  • Technology background and willingness to expand in this area
  • Strong communication/feedback skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally, approximately 10% of time (unless business restrictions applied).
