Job Description

​The Technical Support Engineer is a home-based position supporting BD's technical medical product implementation. This role supports implementation for Alaris Infusion.

  • Manages technical implementation and upgrade of Medical Devices including Infusion Pumps and Patient Monitors
  • Conducts detailed conference calls with customer’s to plan onsite projects
  • Manages temporary and third-party employees during implementation of service products
  • Travels to accounts to be the primary interface with the customer during service product implementations
  • Ensures the efficiency, accuracy, and completeness of implementation of service products and records
  • Installs and configures hardware, software, and network products at customer locations
  • Conducts product technical biomedical training at customer locations


Qualifications / Certifications

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Technology Field or similar.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience performing installations of medical equipment and software applications; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background in field service of medical devices desired.
  • Ability to manage teams of up to 12 (temporary, or third-party suppliers)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and present information to customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn and understand detailed product knowledge of medical devices, software, and basic networking
  • Ability to perform moderately complex hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Possesses strong time management skills; works effectively without direct supervision
  • Home based, requires 100% travel from base location all over the US. (Home most weekends)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards

Preferred skills/experience:

  • Technical experience installing/upgrading/servicing medical equipment in a hospital environment
  • Technical experience with IV infusion systems
  • Trainer experience 

Additional:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds in each hand and walk up and down one flight of stairs
  • This position involves pushing, pulling, stooping and lifting up to 20 pounds above head
  • Thorough background, drug, and DMV screens will be administered prior to employment 
  • Upon hire, must provide proof of, and maintain current immunizations and obtain additional immunizations appropriate for the facility which enables access to customer sites in order to perform essential job functions. Proofs must include: Hepatitis B, Influenza (current year), MMR (mumps, measles, rubella), Varicella (chicken pox) Annual TB/PPD (skin test), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis
