JOB SUMMARY: Molding Process Engineer Intern

Reports to the Manufacturing Business Leader: Molding Unit to help support the operation while learning skills associated with the medical industry and medical manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

• Molding Operational Skills Development:

  • Supports the Manufacturing Business: Molding Unit’s primary objectives.

  • Learns safety requirements of a manufacturing operation.

  • Supports process engineers in the troubleshooting and maintenance of mold setting, process efficiency, and press preventive maintenance.

  • Develops a firm understanding of manufacturing process and equipment and supports assessment of process and operational improvements.

• Project Leadership with Engineering Team to Develop Skills:

  • Handle projects of a moderate scope requiring extensive coordination. May be required to handle several assignments (project & process duties) simultaneously.

  • Learn documentation requirements for medical industry and assist with associated documentation, including the following: validations, molding procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, plant control process, spare parts listings, etc.

  • Become familiar with activities associated with mold engineering support for Tool Room activities, including mold repair scheduling, repair timing and coordination activities.

• Leadership

  • Develops skills to directs the efforts of support personnel such as mold setters and technicians, etc. in the modification, adjustment of processes and/or removal and installation of new or existing equipment as required.

  • Works in collaboration with other Engineers toward attainment of their assignments.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing initiatives with an emphasis in continuous improvement.
