JOB SUMMARY
The Calibration Technician will perform calibrations of measuring and test equipment. This position will also coordinate calibrations with internal customers and outside vendors. This includes, but is not limited to installation, calibration and repair service of diagnostic and general laboratory equipment and instruments.
This position may at times require after-hours, holiday and weekend support depending on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform operations required to calibrate and certify electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment, maintaining traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Coordinate calibrations with internal customers and outside vendors and review certificates for accuracy and compliance.
Must possess a moderate understanding of calibration terminology, calibration principles, including equipment, process & calibration specifications.
Must be able to read, understand and work from technical manuals, S. O. P’s & schematics.
Work cross functionally to schedule calibration activities.
Evaluate calibration methods for improvement opportunities and assist with creation of new calibration methods or other work instructions.
Provide support/documentation for site audits performed by Regulatory bodies and/or Corporate entity.
Work overtime as needed by the department. Work flexible hours as business needs required.
Communicate in an effective, timely, and appropriate manner to all associates
Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.
Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma / GED (minimum requirement).
Testing and measurement equipment experience preferred.
Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
PREFERRED AND ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Effective written and oral communications skills (English), math skills, and interpersonal skills.
Moderate working knowledge of calibration principles and good documentation practices.
Candidates must be customer service oriented.
Experience with system databases such as Blue Mountain Regulatory Assay Manager (BMRAM), SAP, Microsoft Access, Project, PowerPoint & Excel will be helpful.
Basic computer skills.
