Quality Engineer will be focused on internal/external continuous quality improvement efforts to reduce warranty, scrap, rework, and downtime. The individual will also work with the Supply Management Team to actively engage suppliers on process improvements and corrective actions. Key Responsibilities
Support supplier capability, supplier readiness, and the ongoing support of supplier improvements through consistent coaching to Parata Systems Standards.
Support assembly operations to maintain production when quality issues arise.
Handle the Nonconforming Material Process for manufactured product and supplied components.
Maintain Nonconforming Material Process Database and issue and follow-up on internal/external corrective actions.
Run weekly Reject / Open Corrective Action Reports.
Run monthly performance data metrics (DPU/DPMO/COPQ).
Update Monthly Quality Scorecard with performance metrics results.
Partner with Operations and Manufacturing Engineering to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions for internal defects and customer complaints.
Review and report in-process data from manufacturing processes and facilitate corrective and preventive actions as appropriate using appropriate quality tools for root cause analysis.
Conduct structured team-based problem-solving to handle problem containment at internal manufacturing locations to prevent product escapes; implement effective corrective actions.
Establish programs to evaluate and audit the precision and accuracy of test and measurement equipment used in product reliability testing and used to support manufacturing.
Complete Gage R&R and process capability (CPk) studies as necessary for process control.
Support continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
Support and lead Quality continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience
5+ years of relevant work experience combined with Process Engineering, Quality Engineering and Lean Manufacturing disciplines
Strong understanding of GD&T, Process Capability (Cpk), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and apply these principles to receiving incoming Inspections (external suppliers), internal (suppliers) manufacturing operations
Experience with GR&R studies and metrology equipment, such as working knowledge of CMM, calipers, height gages, dial indicators, and micrometers
Experience training operators on new quality procedures
Supplier management background to include supplier audits, part approval, supplier score cards, corrective actions, MRB-RTV disposition, and Field Failure Analysis follow up with suppliers
Experience implementing Lean disciplines and 5-S to internal processes, particularly in inventory management and handling of expensive components into storage or kitting to production line

Work environment and physical demands
The characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. This position will be subject to mostly controlled but potential varying internal environmental conditions, including changes in temperature and noise that are within acceptable safety levels common to a warehouse environment.
Work may involve long-term standing, sitting and frequent walking throughout areas such as warehouse, assembly or machine shop and navigating common hazards related to these areas.
Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
Weekend and overtime work may be required.
Travel by car and/or air is required. Travel of 10% should be expected.
