Job Description

Overview
The Marketing Director Europe will oversee the marketing outlook and roadmap for Urology and Critical Care (UCC) in Europe. Reporting to the UCC Senior Business Unit Director Europe, the position is critical to the success of the BD UCC business within the BD Interventional Segment.

Your objective will be to implement the marketing strategy and capabilities for BD UCC across Europe. This will unlock the potential, growth, and profitability of the UCC portfolio, services, and solutions.

The role is instrumental in completing and embedding changes to the marketing operating model in the BU organization, ensuring effectiveness of collaboration and impact on business results.

You will directly lead a delocalised team of 7 associates and a total team of 10 regional marketing associates across the region.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Builds and implements an ambitious and inspiring vision and strategy for the relevant portfolios and solutions offering within UCC Europe.

  • Builds strong organization, processes, and develops critical capabilities to drive integrated solutions and achieve the marketing vision and strategy.

  • Inspires change and transformation as we elevate the Business Unit to the next phase, capitalising on the significant opportunity by championing new technologies and approaches, for example digital and omnichannel.

  • Working with the Omnichannel Europe team, ensuring that the UCC Europe Marketing strategies continue to evolve in a manner that drives a customer centric approach through Omnichannel marketing

  • Provides leadership on all marketing-related aspects for the region. Ensures strong and effective operational links with the Country/Hub Business Leaders, the Country and Regional Marketing teams and the Worldwide Platform leaders of the Business Unit.

  • Facilitates the translation of WW marketing strategies into the regional strategies, key tactical decisions and action plans

  • Builds a robust organization, establishes processes, and cultivates crucial capabilities to drive coordinated solutions and achieve the marketing strategy.

  • Serves as a leader and coach. Drives marketing excellence by upskilling across marketing proficiencies. Develops robust organization and resources.

  • Create, develop, and maintain a strong link with Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, Regulatory and other functional teams and translates value into marketing actions.

  • Contributes to the Worldwide UCC Strategy and wider BD Strategy via constant communication with the Worldwide UCC Business and Worldwide Marketing Teams.

  • Assure full contribution and support as a member of the UCC European Leadership Team. Contribute to the Worldwide UCC Strategy and ensure the representation of the voices of UCC Europe on a Worldwide level.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

The successful candidate will have significant depth and breadth of marketing knowledge and experience, within the Life Sciences or Medical Devices industry. You will have an established track record to successfully operate in an international environment and experience in leading large teams of professionals.

  • Significant and shown dynamic experience in marketing leadership in the life sciences, medical devices or healthcare industry, with proven effective P&L and/or budget management.

  • Ability to lead marketing organizations of different formats and in diverse environments within a matrix organization and capability to collaborate and influence other business leaders.

  • A deep understanding of customer needs, market dynamics and areas such as healthcare informatics, professional services to deliver innovation and improve health outcomes, better serve customer needs, and drive company results.

  • Knowledge of European healthcare markets, including expertise in diseases, treatments, medical procedures, competitor activity and broad market trends.

  • Strategic agility, with conceptual thinking, and sound discernment are crucial to translate strategic direction into execution and optimally motivate change in a matrix environment with multiple partners.

  • Knowledge and expertise in the delivery of Omnichannel strategies ensuring clear links between the customer journey and on / offline execution.

  • Data driven attitude demonstrated through insight driven marketing to commercial execution will be key to advancing strategic plans to action utilising data driven decision-making.

  • Possess high level of intelligence, integrity, energy, and commercial business judgement with demonstrated growth mindset, and a consistent track record in marketing excellence and leadership with substantial experience inspiring change initiatives & commercial and/or digital transformation.

  • Excellent communication and social skills are required to navigate a sophisticated matrix organization.

  • Capacity to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty, consistently demonstrating the growth mindset and resilience in the face of obstacles.

  • Possesses a bias for action, courage to drive through change and has a reputation for getting things done. 

  • Successful execution of the role implies a broad set of established competencies. The ability for continued personal and professional growth is viewed as key for sustained contribution in this role.

  • The right individual will bring strong leadership skills and readiness for further international career development within the company, within the marketing function or regional management as potential future next steps.
