Job Summary

The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for achieving sales targets and driving market share growth within a defined geographical area for Becton Dickinson India Private Limited. This role involves leading and developing a sales team, executing strategic sales plans, and fostering strong customer relationships to maximize business opportunities across BD's diverse portfolio of medical devices and solutions.

Job Responsibilities

* **Sales Performance & Strategy:**
* Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and tactical plans to achieve and exceed assigned sales quotas and revenue targets for the designated area.
* Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
* Monitor sales performance against targets, prepare regular reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Drive the adoption of new products and solutions within the assigned territory.
* **Team Leadership & Development:**
* Recruit, train, motivate, and manage a team of sales professionals to ensure high performance and adherence to BD's sales processes and values.
* Conduct regular field visits with sales representatives to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback for performance improvement.
* Set clear performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support the professional development of team members.
* **Customer Relationship Management:**
* Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key customers, including hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, and key opinion leaders (KOLs).
* Understand customer requirements and provide tailored solutions from BD's product portfolio.
* Resolve customer issues and complaints promptly and effectively to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
* **Market Intelligence & Reporting:**
* Gather market intelligence, including competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer feedback, and report findings to senior management.
* Prepare accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and other business reports as required.
* Ensure compliance with all company policies, ethical guidelines, and relevant industry regulations.
* **Budget Management:**
* Manage the area's sales budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation and expense control.

Job Qualifications

* **Education:** Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
* **Experience:**
* Minimum of 8-12 years of progressive sales experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry, with at least 3-5 years in a sales management role leading a team.
* Proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.
* Strong understanding of the Indian healthcare market, including regulations, distribution channels, and customer segments.
* **Skills & Competencies:**
* Excellent leadership, team management, and coaching skills.
* Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and analytical capabilities.
* Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
* High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
