Job Description Summary

Site BD Excellence Engineer will be passionate about creating a culture of operational and customer excellence, implementing change, and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) within the site or specific manufacturing unit/s.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow problem solving capability and LEAN methodologies at all levels.
  • Support implementation of Continuous Improvement (CI) projects across all dimensions SQDC.
  • Help generate, sustain, and deliver a multi-year Cost to Win (CTW) portfolio, support governance processes, and optimization of the site loss landscape. Help meet or exceed Cost to Win (CTW) goals through leading and /or supporting Focused Improvement team savings projects (Loss Landscape).
  • Teach and coach BD Excellence concepts and systematic approach, including Root Cause Analysis, strategy deployment, core components, Zero Loss mindset and all related methodologies / tools.
  • Collaborate with Managers/Leaders to identify each department’s top priorities and determine best methods for driving process and culture change.
  • Lead and facilitate breakthrough Kaizen events and support other BD Excellence components in problem solving capability development.
  • Support development of zero loss mindset across critical areas to optimize quality, delivery and cost while improving safety.
  • Drive use of effective data-driven visual-management techniques, e.g., Business-Operating-System (BOS) charts to drive improvement of KPIs such as OEE, waste, labor productivity, etc. Active role in governance and action tracking of improvements, with periodic reporting of activity completion dates, expected and achieved results.
  • Help coordinate activity of component teams and focused improvement project teams to eliminate loss, according to strategic goals.
  • Help develop and grow capability through Lean components and component teams to establish the fundamentals of excellence in safety, quality, and reliability.
  • Coach and guide project selection process to ensure focus of resources and time on priorities.
  • Ensure strategic alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs’) top down and bottom up. Support BD Excellence deployment and governance process across all relevant components.
  • Drive BD Excellence capability development through deployment of progressively advanced aspects of component methodologies. Support attainment of long-term CI objectives through cross functional teams with shared goal.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering trade or similar required.
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience in a plant.  High speed automated assembly manufacturing preferred.
  • Possess strong leadership and influence skills to solve complex problems with an emphasis on improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Business financials (Cost).

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience in implementing, and strong knowledge of, Lean and Six Sigma business systems. Six sigma green or black belt certification preferred.
  • Able to develop compelling business case for resource investment, aligned with Cost To Win (CTW) finance policies and guidelines.
  • Experience in Total Productive Maintenance or Industrial Engineering is an added advantage
  • Demonstrated passion for safety, customer centricity and operational excellence.
  • Understanding of the interaction between operational excellence and customer service.
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills with people at all levels.
  • Track record in project or program management
  • Business acumen and ability to display the linkage between projects and desired business results.
