As Product Manager for BD Biosciences in Canada, you will lead the strategic marketing direction for the Research platform portfolio. This role is accountable for designing and executing an integrated marketing and sales strategy that drives revenue growth, market share expansion, and customer engagement. You will collaborate cross-functionally to craft compelling value propositions, generate qualified leads, and foster long-term customer loyalty. Your leadership will be instrumental in translating market insights into actionable programs that position BD as a trusted partner in scientific innovation.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Sr Marketing Manager, the Product Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee financial budgets and projections for platform revenue and profitability, leveraging customer data.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic, fact-based market plans to drive platform growth for the short and long term.
  • Market Research & Product Launch: Plan and execute market research, product launches, and marketing campaigns to ensure rapid customer adoption of BD technology.
  • Communication & Sales Tools: Create and manage market communication plans and sales tools.
  • Global Collaboration: Work with the worldwide BD Biosciences Research marketing team to meet regional customer and market needs, including backorder support, regional inputs on product development/launch and global marketing plan execution.
  • Commercial Activities: Partner with the sales team for customer site visits and other commercial activities, including (but not limited to) business case proposals, RFP responses, conference participation, etc.
  • Customer Insights: Analyze data to generate actionable customer insights, prioritize customer needs, and define the desired customer experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively across functions to align on a common vision for the customer buying journey and develop internal networks to support product delivery, including support of Medical-Scientific Affairs to enable access to technology and products
  • Digital Marketing: Plan, develop and execute digital marketing strategies to identify and nurture Marketing Qualified Leads (MQL) into Sales Qualified Leads (SQL).
  • Pricing Excellence: Manage pricing strategies for the product portfolio.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the local subject matter expert on products within the portfolio, including training the local commercial team.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Education required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in marketing and/or product management within the Medical Device or Life Sciences sectors.
  • Proven track record managing capital equipment or reagent-based products, with a strong focus on the academic research market.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, advanced Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to travel 15%, overnight within Canada and the US.

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific solutions into strategic marketing plans that drive product adoption, customer engagement, and sustained growth in sophisticated research environments.
  • Advanced verbal, written and presentation/communications skills.
  • Highly motivated, execution-focused leader with the ability to self-define role and activities necessary for successful product commercialization and integration into BD.
  • High learning agility with ability to pivot quickly to adapt to changing needs.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
  • Excellent command of information/data and the ability to drive decisions.
  • Organized and proactive with demonstrated ability to multitask and balance competing priorities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Lifesciences field preferred. M.Sc and/or MBA an asset.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Immunology and Flow Cytometry.
  • Strong financial acumen is a valuable asset, enabling effective budget planning, ROI analysis, and strategic investment decisions.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, customer resource management (CRM) systems and content management an asset (Salesforce, Marketo, Showpad etc.).
