Are you looking for your new career?

BD Parata is currently seeking a Field Support Engineer in the Los Angeles area. The Field Support Engineer will provide in depth technical and customer support of BD Parata’s suite of pharmacy automation products. In this role you will travel regionally to provide industry leading support and service to Pharmacies in multiple types of environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspect and maintain pharmacy automation systems to identify potential issues before they cause downtime. This includes performing scheduled preventative maintenance, replacing worn components, and ensuring all systems are operating at optimal performance levels to maximize client uptime and satisfaction.

  • Provide thorough, hands-on training to pharmacy staff on proper operation and maintenance procedures for automation systems. This includes creating customized training materials, conducting refresher sessions, and ensuring all shifts have access to proper operational knowledge to reduce user errors and service calls.

  • Prioritize and respond to service requests according to established Service Level Agreement timeframes, ensuring critical issues receive immediate attention. This includes maintaining clear communication with clients about expected resolution times and providing regular updates throughout the troubleshooting process.

  • Work effectively with other service teams, engineering, and product specialists to address complex technical issues that require multidisciplinary expertise. This collaborative approach ensures faster resolution times and more comprehensive solutions for challenging automation problems.

  • Maintain detailed records of all service activities, including issue descriptions, troubleshooting steps taken, parts replaced, and final resolutions in the Salesforce Field Service Lightning system. This documentation creates a valuable knowledge base for future reference and helps identify recurring issues that may require product improvements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Robotics, or Biomedical Engineering Technology preferred, with 3-5 years of field service experience. The position allows for equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience, providing flexibility for candidates with strong practical experience but different educational backgrounds.

  • Strong customer service orientation is essential as field service technicians frequently interact directly with clients, troubleshoot issues on-site, and represent the company while working at customer locations. This requires excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to explain technical concepts in accessible terms.

  • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, which are necessary for documentation, reporting, communication, and accessing technical resources. This foundational technical literacy ensures the technician can effectively use company systems and software tools.

  • Experience with computer networking, router/switch configuration, and file management is required, as modern equipment increasingly relies on network connectivity. This knowledge enables technicians to diagnose connectivity issues, configure equipment on client networks, and ensure proper data transfer between systems.

  • The position demands strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency using hand tools for complex equipment service, complemented by experience with digital multi-meters and electrical testing equipment. This combination of skills allows technicians to address both the mechanical and electrical/electronic aspects of equipment maintenance and repair.

Minimum Requirements:

  • SQL knowledge a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Daily car travel (average 4 hours per day) with occasional air travel

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds frequently, 100 pounds occasionally

  • Stand for extended periods (up to 10-12 hours when necessary)

We Provide:

  • Fleet vehicle

  • Corporate credit card for expenses

  • Company laptop and phone

  • Complete tool kit

  • Comprehensive benefits package

At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
