About the role
The Key Account Manager for Southern Africa is responsible for driving sustainable sales growth and strengthening long‑term relationships with strategic customers across the Southern African region for Becton Dickinson’s medical technology portfolio. This role focuses on strategic account management, complex sales execution, and delivering customer‑centric solutions aligned with regional healthcare needs.
Main responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement strategic account plans to achieve sales objectives and expand market share
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior decision‑makers, procurement teams, and clinical stakeholders
Identify customer needs and position Becton Dickinson solutions through compelling value propositions
Lead complex sales processes including demonstrations, proposals, negotiations, and post‑sale support
Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, technical, regulatory, supply chain) to ensure flawless execution
Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities
Prepare sales forecasts, reports, and business reviews for regional leadership
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards
Represent Becton Dickinson at relevant industry events and conferences
Travel extensively across Southern Africa to support customers and business activities
About you
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field, with equivalent experience also considered (Master’s degree preferred)
Minimum 3 years’ sales experience, including key account management within healthcare, medical devices, or pharmaceuticals
Shown success in achieving or exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment
Solid understanding of Southern African healthcare systems and procurement processes
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills
Strategic, analytical, and dedicated to achieving goals approach
Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and Microsoft Office
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
