Working closely with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Business leaders, the Associate Director drives project execution, aligns technical resources, manages risk, and ensures successful delivery of scalable, compliant, and sustainable manufacturing solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end industrialization projects from concept development through design transfer, equipment procurement, installation, qualification, validation, launch, and operational handoff.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability and escalation for assigned projects.
  • Ensure project delivery meets established scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and performance objectives.
  • Partner with Business Units, R&D, Operations, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to translate product innovation into robust, scalable, and manufacturable solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through all phases of project execution, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely decision-making.
  • Operate within established enterprise project governance and stage-gate processes.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Integration

  • Coordinate engineering resources across process engineering, equipment engineering, manufacturing, launch teams, and engineering services.
  • Align functional leaders to ensure appropriate technical expertise, capacity, and resources are deployed throughout project execution.
  • Foster strong partnerships with plant leadership to ensure manufacturing readiness and successful implementation of new technologies.
  • Represent engineering project execution in leadership reviews, governance forums, and project update meetings.
  • Drive collaboration across multiple sites, functions, and external partners to achieve project objectives.
  • Influence and align stakeholders to support project priorities, resource allocation, and delivery objectives.

Manufacturing Readiness & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure manufacturing sites are fully prepared to support new product launches and capital equipment deployments.
  • Oversee:
    • Equipment and process readiness
    • Validation planning and execution (IQ/OQ/PQ)
    • Documentation completion
    • Training and operational readiness activities
    • Manufacturing handoff and sustainment planning
  • Champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM), standardization, and scalability principles throughout project development.
  • Lead vertical startup and ramp-up activities to ensure operational performance targets are achieved before handoff to operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, quality, environmental, and safety standards.

Project Controls & Business Performance

  • Develop and manage project roadmaps, timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project performance through KPIs, dashboards, and performance management systems.
  • Establish and maintain:

    • Risk management plans
    • Formal change control processes
    • Gate review readiness
    • Stakeholder communication plans
  • Manage capital and operating expenditures associated with assigned projects.
  • Lead project issue resolution and escalation activities to maintain project momentum and minimize risk.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership and key stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Apply industry best practices in program management, risk management, and project execution.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives designed to:
    • Reduce project execution risk
    • Improve speed, predictability, and cost performance

  • Drive organizational learning through the adoption of best practices, standard work, and scalable project delivery methodologies.

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities for technical talent supporting project execution.
  • Build strong partnerships across engineering, operations, quality, and business teams to accelerate decision-making and execution.
