Job Description

Role Overview

  • Perform Microbiology Quality Control testing in support of peptone manufacturing, raw material testing, tissue culture testing, dyes & stains testing, and final DCM testing, as required.
  • Conduct testing of a variety of microorganisms within BSL‑I, BSL‑II, and BSL‑III laboratory environments, with strict adherence to all safety and regulatory policies.
  • Support operations in clean room environments as needed, including meeting validation requirements associated with proper donning and doffing of clean room garments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute microbiological QC testing of culture media, including preparation of media from scratch.
  • Apply microbiology knowledge related to bacteria, yeast, and fungi to testing and analysis activities.
  • Handle biological and chemical samples safely and accurately in a laboratory setting.
  • Maintain excellent aseptic technique to ensure data integrity and contamination control.
  • Follow laboratory cleaning, safety, and documentation procedures at all times.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with large, cross‑functional teams to support quality and operational goals.
  • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make sound, independent decisions when appropriate.

Technical & Regulatory Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Microbiology fundamentals as applied to QC laboratory environments.
  • Ability to interpret and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Basic knowledge in a broad range of laboratory techniques

  • History of self-motivation with a background in biological lab science

  • Experience in handling biological samples and knowledge of GMP

  • Capable of readily identifying and analyzing problems

  • Have basic analytical skills and be familiar with database and statistical software

  • Having great organizational skills, using various outlets to maintain daily tasks

  • Capable of managing one’s own time and scheduling of tasks to meet rigid deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry, analysis, and documentation.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including calculations related to: Dilutions, Microbial counts, Product preparation, Supplement adjustments
  • Ability to work methodically and accurately in regulated laboratory environments.
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in related field such as Microbiology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to two years’ experience

  • Knowledge of the following industry regulations FDA (Food and Drug Administration), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) / QSR (Quality System Regulation), ISO (International Organization of Standardization), USDA
